I am new at this comic book stuff but my son owns a lot. Most are sealed in plastic with cardboard behind some have cards with them. I need to know what the meaning and difference between raw value and graded value. Can any one explain this to me?

A raw value is a book that you grade the condition of the book by yourself.
A graded value is a book that a owner sends to a third party company that grades the book for you and you pay to be done by them . It is not a cheap process but as you see in the price guide it can add value to a book in higher grades of a book.

grading is only worth it if one: you have plenty of money to play with and grade anything you want; second is only because you know its worth the money to spend on that comic book. not to mention, if it is worth grading, it will boost the value if it's condition is quiet well
