As we work through the incoming data on comic book values there are times when the data doesn't make sense. Raw prices above graded prices happens sometimes. Today, I spent some time looking at Amazing Spider-man 606 confirming the data.
The average raw value is greater than the graded value in 9.4, 8.5 and 8.0
My best guess is that collectors who want graded books look for 9.6 and 9.8 for modern books. 9.4 which is extremely common in raw isn't sought after in a slab. I'm thinking about creating a list of these outliers. It will help you buy smart and it will alleviate confusion when you see it in our price guide.
