So with the recent announcement this book is moving from hot to radioactive. Thankfully, I picked up a CGC 9.6 for about $400 a few years ago.

My dilemma is whether to crack it open and send it for pressing and regrading in the hope it will step up to a 9.8.

Would you do it if in my shoes?

I wouldn't unless you are planning to sell it. If so, then it might be worth the extra $40 or so to have it graded again. There is a chance that it will still be a 9.6, but that's business in trying to make your product a little more profit.

My two cents,

That's a great book to own with the movie coming out in 2021. I looked at some of the previous pricing for that book and it's gone insane in the last 2 years. It's all good for you Crowman

I'm just happy owning the comic. If it's good enough for me, I don't care if someone else thinks it's better or worse. This is mine.
