The scarce first appearance of Ditko's Captain Atom is calling down serious heat,

You can see here that Space Adventures #33 is on fire:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Space%20Adventures%20%2333&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

A copy in somewhere around GD condition sold for $300, and a best offer was accepted for one listed for just under $1000.

and here:

One graded CBCS 4.5 has 5 days left, but already has bids totaling over $360.

Captain Atom is Steve Ditko's first superhero - it is not easy to find and darn expensive when you do. Values should be checked.

I'm not sure how well this movie will turn out but hype made it go up in value.

I'm not sure what movie you're speaking of uchihadesendent.

Can you expound on what you said?

There is no live action Captain Atom film in the works that I know of, nor is he supposed to appear in the new Dawn of Justice film.

As far as I know, this book is getting really hard to locate, and it is a overlooked key - until now, that is. It is Steve Ditko's first superhero (created in 1960) - it precedes Spider-Man by two years. These are the only reasons that I know of.

Steve Ditko's first superhero if you can call it that is Captain 3D. Captain Atom is Steve's first ongoing superhero character. I'm glad I have a very High grade copy of that issue in my collection.

Captain 3D is credited to Simon and Kirby in the late Golden Age,

I read somewhere that Joe Simon said that Ditko had a hand in the creation of the character (whatever that means), but he also said that a bunch of other people did as well. Ditko didn't even pencil the character as far as I know, he just did inks.

Captain Atom was co-created, co-written and drawn by Steve Ditko. I think that is a big difference.

High grade copies of Captain 3D aren't hard to find, nor are they expensive. Space Adventures #33 is scarce, and expensive.

But Captain 3D is definitely a cool comic to have. Congratulations.
