Star Trek: Starfleet Academy #5A and #5B seems to have been mixed.
The cover shown for #5A is really the subscription cover. (and I think that the cover listed on #5B is the one for #5A - but I do not own the RI comic so I cannot verify that claim... |

I have just started re-organize my comiccollection since I expanded my storageroom. The room will be ready in a few days (about 50 m2! :-D ) But I started to register a little early....
579 comics value 2,075$ - I know it is not much...But it is a start

I guess a forum thread where the developers/owners of this db post news, updates, what is going on. what can we expect etc would be great and very informative. Even work as promotion... If we could see new functionality that are being worked upon it would give us hope:-) Promises of when it should be release should be on the "we hope".. Everyone should know that a date is not set in stone and that additional time will often be required to not push out functionality that do not work.
I used to use my own database for comics but it was tiresome to always have to register all new comics myself. But I do know a lot about databases. Some things are easy to implement and some things are harder.
I would have loved to be able to add new functionality to this site. mostly to cover my own needs of course;-)

yes I think that is about correct. But I'll admit that I do not have that many really valuable comics... but I have many;-)
I'll register some during the weekend since I'll start moving in tomorrow. |

I would like to see a list of who has the most different comics than value pr comic, but that is just me;-) And of course a question would be if it was to include comics from other countries ( I am Norwegian so I have a bunch of norwegian comics too...)
But I guess that if everyone reported
number of comics AND Value of comics then 3 different lists could be made
1 - Who has the most comics
2 - Who has the most valuable collection
3 - Who has the best value pr comic
I will gladly assist you ruk in keeping the lists alive (but sadly not with sending you a check;-) )
I will see if I can come up with a good solution to keep the score.. I have some ideas;-)
The best of course would be to get the information directly from comicspriceguide but I can't see that happening now.
(a norwegian site that covers norwegian comics (without value) have th option for all the users to "do not include me in the list of the persons with mist comics".
If the user does not check this one he will appear on the "person with most comics list" that the webpage itself has (www.minetegneserier.no - at the bottom of the front page.
Not this is not commercial for this site (it has only norwegian, swedish and danish comics listed).. it is just to show the possibillity for comicspriceguide.

I created a google docs spreadsheet for the lists.

At the moment on ly I can edit it but everyone should be able to see it.
it has 4 lists
1) Collections - the list of all people (only my name is real)
2) Most Value - Automatic list that sorts when any person is added or changed in collections
3) Value pr Comic - Automatic list that sorts when any person is added or changed in collections
4) Most Comics - Automatic list that sorts when any person is added or changed in collections
I can see if I can add the different persons on the list later today, but I do not think that it is possible to find #comics and $Comics for everyone. and maybe it also should include a field for the date it was updated.. I believe some of these are very old..
What do you think. could it work? It will still be possible to copy data from the spreadsheet and post here and people should post their update here to keep the thread alive.. |

The spreadsheet should be able to handle more people than that and if a few people was allowed to update it then it would be accurate and easier to maintain.
We'll see. I am only trying to find an easy way to update and keep the score for everyone:-) |

Collections are just the list of people alphabetical with their collections (and dates for a few people about when the collection was updated..)
the other 3 sheets are the different way to sort the data.
( I have removed several duplicates in the list (And I guess Frankie Vig and Franklevig is the same person too).
How does this spreadsheet look for you guys?
When a person updates his collection the only change will be to edit his collection on the collection tab (number of comics, value of comics and the corresponding datefields) and voila.. the others are automatically sorted.
At the moment only I am allowed to update this spreadsheet but If people think this list is good then I will let Ruk also be able to update it since I think he has done such a good job with the lists so far and would like to have Ruk on board.
Any suggestions, questions or thoughts?
If nobody likes it then I will scrap the whole thing :-D

Since that list was not updated in ages (as i understand) it would be totally out of sync with what people actually have. Even in your list the some names appear 2 places with different total value. So I would think most people have not submitted the amount since the list was updated last.
Thte list as it is now in the spreadsheet can be used for just Value (as your list), Amount of comics (as Earls list) or both. as you see not all have listed their amount so they are not listed in the "most comics list" (ok they are listed but at the bottom with 0 comics).
So the only list that is "updated" are the most value.
If this is a way that you want to keep the list (you can have the list here but copy back here as you do now.) then I think it would save you some time and it will be easier to spot if anyone is listed twice.
If people do not want the most comics list then just forget about that sheet;-) |
