That's a bummer about all the old photos being lost. I had an excellent comic room on the old forums a loft conversion. this is my new one, a right old mess but hopefully get some kind of conversion here somewhere down the road.

Did you keep your old username?

I kept my original username.

I remember slimtonone,
Expander are you Canadian and had some good photography going on? I kind of remember you.
Shadow I remember
Earl another Brit. Not too far from me either in Staffordshire if I do recall.

Can't quite remember the other usernames but there was an Irish fella and a Kiwi I remember. Also an Australian girl I can't remember the username but was made admin around the time I disappeared.
Ah and Disney Teddies just came back to me.
Others will come back to me I'm sure.

You guys still knocking about?

There are different tiers of membership. Not sure if this is the case but if you have gold membership or maybe even silver you may be able to do it. The free membership only allows basic things in the database.

New Suicide Squad 9 Sketch Variant

Variants annoy the hell out of me. Not because they are just trying to make more money from the same comic. It's because of my foibles. It doesn't feel like I have the whole collection if I'm missing a variant. I do like the remarked variants though. A bit of extra artwork on the cover.

The plastic bags I use though are the Mylites. Supposed to last 100 years so no changing the bags in my lifetime. Library of Congress, and the Comic Conservation Company use them so if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.

Ah! Setone that was it.

Oxbladder is another I remembered. Though is he Canadian and into photography? Think I may have got him mixed up with Expander.

Been collecting them over time. I was collecting the comic book figures too but they stopped selling those from the place I get them.

I used to own all of the Playmates interactive Simpsons figures. That just went ridiculous though, and there was waaaay too much.

When I get this room up to scratch I might start rotating some of my collection for display. Everything is just put away in boxes which feels like a waste. I still can't bring myself to taking them out of the blisters though. The blister is a nice little display in its own rights.

Hello Sherlock. Another Brit here. Tamworth Staffordshire. I couldn't say whether it is any good selling on here I've only ever purchased from here. Give it a go. I normally just sell on Ebay. I think there is an Ebay selling page but that might have been the old forums.

How about The Dark Tower? Not quite as hot as it may be just yet. They are making a film 2017 I do believe which could turn these comics hot.

Not to mention the drop in value that comes with opening them. still very cool collection. did you ever have any luck with those original star wars figures we chatted about on the old forums?

I've always said when you buy toys you should always buy three. One to play with one to display and one to put away untouched. could never afford to do that though.
Never did find Chewy. Still in the attic somewhere at the old house. Just hope some little kid finds it.

I need to come back more often.

"Raw" Prices vs. "Graded" Prices

I'm of the ilk of where if I need the book I will buy it. I have Sub-mariner number 1 in quite a state but I have it. Not too bothered about the little nicks and dents here and there that brings the book down too much in grade IMO. I do like the CGC signed books though. Don't think I would buy a book signed if it wasn't witnessed by CGC. Have a few signed from (can't think of the name of them now. It will come to me. Dynamic Forces that's the ones.) with the COA whom I trust quite a bit. Haven't purchased from them in a long time as I much prefer the CGC sigs now.

Problem I have with CGC is they need looking after more. If that slabs cracks it is not classed as graded then. I sold a lot of my CGC because of this. Just have my special ones I like too much. Comics look much better in a Mylite, again just my opinion.

So just to be clear

I´m looking at a copy of Star Wars #1 1977 for sale for 1189 US. This guide lists this specific example at raw 600 and graded 1200 US. Given this I assume this is a safe buy since it´s up against the market value? Market value being the graded value?

Thanks

I have this in a 9.4 but can't justify the price doubling just for something spotted under a microscope or however they grade. We don't read comics under a microscope. Grading should be by the naked eye IMO.

Love The Dark Tower books and the comics and the movie. I'm just a fan of it all I guess. Can't wait for the next lot of movies. Will be interesting to see Blain. He hasn't popped up in the comics yet either. Need to switch off from books to comics to movies. see it all in a fresh light. Hard to do when you know the story so well but I find it quite easy to be able to start watching a movie without trying to compare it to the book. Just seeing it in another format. Hopefully bring in Eddie and Detta/Susannah next time. Great characters.

Oh and never choose not to see a movie because of somebody else's review of it being bad or good. Just go see it if it peeks your interest any. Somebody told me The Moon was the worse film he had ever seen. I loved that too, with Sam Rockwell. If I'd have listened to him I would have missed out on it. I have my own mind and I like it. wink
