Cameo vs First Appearance
Gladvlad
|
How many cameos can a character have before it's considered a 1st appearance? Arch Angel appears in six panels over two pages in X-factor 23, but it's his second cameo appearance (his first cameo is in #19 in shadows) and in #24 it's listed as his 1st appearance. Wouldn't #23 qualify as his 1st appearance since it meets all of the above criteria? |

They aren't worth much, but people buy them if they're priced in the $2-$3 range especially if it's reprints of the classic EC covers. |

Book is not rare. People ripped off the cover and try to sell inside as original supeman 1. edited by gladvlad on 9/23/2022 |

ZENESCOPE COMICS

These are manufactured to be rare. There is a difference between a "rare" comic and a comic printed in limited quantities. The prices for Zenoscope is not driven by demand, but by pervy cover collectors and the dealer is aware they will pay more for T&A covers. Look at how many bidders are for each book. It's not much, only one or two bidders. After a shop sells the book for a high price, there won't be many people willing to pay the same or more for that book if the buyer sells the book. Check ebay sold prices and you'll see that they don't consistently sell for much and there aren't many bidders. |

Ruk's list-Who has the best collection
Gladvlad
|
Title is a little misleading. This is a list of most valuable collection. It make more sense if best collection is a person who has the highest average per book. #1 guy average value per book is $347.79. #2 guy average is $22.05 per book. #7 guy average value per book is $481.56. I think #7 guy has better collection because his average per book is more. Just my honest opinion. |

One guy has over 71,000 books valued at $582,000 and with an average of $8/book. Another has 117 books valued at almost $400,000 with an average of $3,390/book.
Imagine going to a comiccon and seeing two vendor. One vendor has over 500 long boxes of $10 and less books in his booth. The other has only 200 books on their wall with the average price of the books being $3,000. Which dealer do you think has the better books? |

Nope, it won't make it any more valuable especially since all copies have the misspelling. |

Is there a market for lower graded comics?
Gladvlad

There is definitely a market for mid 80s and before books. Lots of key Marvel books came out during that time. Not very many people have the budget to spend on a very high grade copy so lower grades sell very well. |

Shops to Avoid?

Is this topic about local shops or on line comic shops? It's probably not going to help many people if I tell people about a bad experience I had with a shop in Gormon because most people reading this will probably never go there. BTW, that's just an example. I don't even know if there is a shop in Gormon.
If it's about on line experience then I'd say avoid newkadia. Their grading is at least a full grade higher than actual. Any inbetween grades (+ or -) will be severely over graded. They used to do a pretty good job with grading, but in the last two to three years grading has been pretty bad.
I'd stay away from them. edited by gladvlad on 7/29/2023 |
