Hey Robo!...Where you being sir!
I've been around. I tried to check in at the old forums a few times over the past 6 months or so to see if they had come back. I had tried the forums link on here, as well, but it was not up yet, I suppose. I was a bit surprised when it worked the other day.
Glad to see the boards are back. |

I regret buying comic lots on eBay...

Here's a lot I purchased last week: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300-COMIC-BOOKS-Mixed-Lot-BRONZE-AGE-and-etc-/282087875994?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=eqf2VRa%252Bm5%252FBtlAVykd05pa2hMg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
I noticed a few decent books(TMNT 5-6, UXM 251, and couple of others). The cost was about 3 for $1, which isn't too bad. I figured I could sell enough at $1 a piece to at least make my money back, but I still thought maybe I overpaid a bit. I almost didn't bid, thinking it might get relisted at lower price, but I WTF moment and put in the opening bid.
The comics arrived yesterday and I had a few nice surprises. A few that stick out in my memory are a black bagged Superman #75, which can be seen in one of the photos, but I don't think I noticed before I bid, not seen, though are an X-Force #8 with a Deadpool card, a Captain America Annual #8, and best of all... a mid-grade copy of New Mutants 98.
So I think this purchase will work out quite well. ≈(^ᴥ^)≈ |

a brief intro about my comic collecting history: Read my first comic, ASM #173, in either 1978 or 1979. Didn't start collecting until about 1986. Bought a lot of new books up until 1994. Then I pretty much stopped, and was only buying a few indie titles. Sold about 1/2 of my books(about 4 or 5 long boxes) in 1998. They were all low value books. Started going through my books in about 2008, and that reignited the collecting bug. Since about 2014, it's been pretty off and on. Lately it's been pretty on. I passed the 10,000 mark last month. I'm mainly interested in books from the late 1960s to late 1970s, but I'll pretty much buy anything that strikes my fancy.
I sell a lot of books out of a resale/consignment store that my parents own. Currently, I have over 3,000 books there. I have a few regulars that come by every so often. Occasionally, I drive down to Austin and sell at various events.
I do all of my grading at the store whenever I'm working a shift. There's no scanner there, so I won't be doing much scanning like I did on the old site. I will be posting group pics every so often. I usually wait until I have a few hundred books to file away, so I can take quick pics while I'm sorting them. edited by robotcat on 7/26/2016 |

Okay, I guess I'll start of with some "recent" TMNT additions.
I won these last July for 25.99:
TMNT 1C(4th P) - VF TMNT 2B(3rd P) - VF TMNT 3A(2nd P) - FN+ TMNT 8 - VF- TMNT 12 - VF- TMNT 13 - FN+ Tales of TMNT 2 - FN+ Tales of TMNT 3 - F/VF Tales of TMNT 4 - VF Turtle Soup 1 - FN+ TMNT: Training 6 - FN+ How to Draw TMNT 1 - F/VF
total value based on my grades is $76.90, so it was a pretty good deal. I already had 8,12, & 13 , but they might be upgrades. Still have to compare. I have 1st prints of 2 and 3, but the 4th of #1 is now the highest, that I have.

hmm... the pics seem to be showing up smaller on the thread page, but fit to post on the recent post...
Anyway on to the next set or rather sets as I won these two lots from the same seller back in March of 2014 Groo (Pacific) #1-8 for $15.99 and Grim Jack #1-2,4-8,10-14 for $7.99 plus $4.50 s/h.
Most of the books for both sets were FN+ with a few slightly higher and a few slightly lower. So I ended up paying about guide for the Groos and over double guide for the Grims, but then the Grims have $2 NM value, so I think the one's I got were well worth the $.82 a book I paid.
I already had a better copy Grim Jack #1, but the one and this lot was signed and dated 5/18/84 by the artists Timothy Truman, which would have been about the time it was first released, so that's pretty neat.
These are all in two per bag, so the issue numbers are out of order in the pics:

Hey i have some of those, Great posting Robo! $1.65 for Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2, Wow.
Thanks.
The $1.65 was the for the Top Cat and Yogi comics below. The MTIO was $12. It looks pretty nice, but has a small piece missing on and by the bottom of the spine. It probably happened during production. (I might have graded it too conservatively.)
Here's a larger pic(right click and click on view image to see it on photobucket):

This is one of my best buys of this year...
Adventure Comics 426, 428-440 for $38.37
428 is the first Black Orchid, and 431-440 is the entire Spectre run. (426 was a lackluster issue for which I had no interest, so it went up for sale at the store)
ADV COMICS #428 VG/F | #429 VF- | #430 F/VF

ADV COMICS #431 FN+ | #432 FN+ | #433 FN+

ADV COMICS #434 VG+ | #435 FN | #436 F/VF

ADV COMICS #437 F/VF | #438 FN | #439 FN+

ADV COMICS 440 FN+ | TEEN TITANS #6 VG+ ($8.70) | AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #37 G/VG ($30) (The TT is from a separate auction & the ASM was a convention buy.)

Also won from the same seller for $7.23 were these 3 (plus 2 other mag sized books, that didn't interest me) .
LOVE AND ROCKETS #2 FN | SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #18 VG/F | SAVAGE TALES #5 FN+

Ghost 26-36 for $10.74 not as exciting as the last lot, but higher grade books at $1 a piece is always nice (books are 2 per bag, so issues numbers are out of order in pics)

Here's some books I picked up at a convention in the summer of 2014. A few were good buys, a few were very bad, and the rest were at about guide. (They were all 1/2 off their sticker price, so they seemed like were better deals at the time.) (The ASM #37 and Man from U.N.C.L.E #5 from earlier pics were also from this con.)
CREATURES ON THE LOOSE #31 FN ($3) | #32 FN+ ($3) | #34 FN ($3)

CREATURES ON THE LOOSE #35 FN ($4) | #36 FN+ ($4) | #37 FN+ ($3)

DAREDEVIL #74 F/VF ($7) | DD #108 VF- ($7) | DD #109 F/VF ($7)

DAREDEVIL #118 FN ($7) | FEAR #24 FN+ ($10) | TOMB OF DRACULA #70 VG/F ($12) (Fear and Drac were 2 of the very bad buys. Drac has some stains on the back, so I was fooled by the front with it. Fear looks pretty nice in the pic, so I'm guessing it something wrong on the back as well. I didn't make any damage notes on it in my data set.)

FOREVER PEOPLE #9 VG/F ($8) | FP #10 VG+ ($7) | STRANGE TALES #132 VG ($14)

FELIX THE CAT(VOL.2) #2 VG ($15) | LIPPY THE LION... #1 FN ($10) (FTC looks great but is missing a corner from the back cover)

Here's a bunch of books I won in 30 separate auctions from the same seller. (Most of the books that are from the sames series were in auction lots.)
WARP 1-2,4 SPECIAL 1 ranging from FN to F/VF for $2.45 (have them 2 per bag)

MAN-THING (VOL.3) #1-5 plus #2A ranging from FN to VF for $3.73 (have them 2 per bag)

FRANK BRUNNER #1 FN ($1.05) | BERNI WRIGHTSON #5 VG/F ($1.04) | FB #2 FN ($1.05) (This pic is a composite of 2 different pics... the FB's are in the same bag. )

MUTANTS OF... #1 VG+ ($1.89) | Yellowdog #23 G/VG ($1.89) | YOUNG LUST #4 FN ($2.45)

A1 #2 VG/F ($3.59) | TMFT MOD #1 FN+ ($1.89) | MIRACLEMAN #2 FN(VF-) ($1.89) [MM has browning on interior cover and back cover]

MOONDOG #2 VG+ ($1.89) | PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES #1 FN ($1.89)

continuing from the previous post...
These were two separate lots: 17 TUROK books for $6.80 (most VF- or better) 12 MAGNUS books for $4.96 (mostly FN to F/VF)
These are just the ones I kept. There were 9 issues of which I already had better copies. The Magnus #57 is the error copy with the pages out of order.
These are 2 per bag so issue order is screwy. The Dark Horse Presents is from a separate lot from this seller. The rest of those will be in the next post.

As mentioned earlier, these Dark Horse Presents are from the same seller as the previous posts.
17 issues for $16.15. Mostly FN to FN+.
There were a couple of duplicates and 1 I just didn't feel was worth keeping.
The 2 variants at the end I purchased at the 2014 con for $5 each.
Once again 2 per bag.
