I believe this to be the 1st Michael Turner credits at Image. I was still buying Witchblade when I picked this up. I wasn't reading it though. I thought Michael Turners art was pretty, nothing more. I think he just has inking credits in the and only as one whoassisted.

Anyone who has read a Continuity book before 1990 has probably seen an ad for Freak Show. After almost 20 years from the time the first ads ran, I asked Bernie Wrightson if Freak Show would ever see the light of day. His response was, "Oh, it's coming out next month?"
So, it did come out from Image and I bought the hardback.

Sadly, he is in VERY poor health. He may not be around much longer.

Randy Queen was a local artist. Darkchylde looks VERY much like Jennifer the girl who sold him comics at a local comic shop. I would mess with her and say things like "Wow, he sure imagined you with barely any clothes on at all!" She'd give me a look like she wanted to strangle me. It was priceless. She told me once that I was one of her favorite people because when the really annoying customers would come in and want to carry on really geeky conversations with her, I'd just say one or two sarcastic sentences and they'd shut up. She'd say "I don't even know if you know you are doing it." I'd say "I knew. I wanted them to shut up too." She'd smile.

I'm almost certain i had that along many other image books from around the time. I no longer have them (gave'm away to a kid that was living next door at the time...Damn that was in the late 90's) how time flies.
I do have Cyber Force #3 it was dedicated to Jack Kirby after hes death in 94'
I was buying very little Image back then. I grabbed this years after it came out because it was Turner's first art.

This is Valiant's first published comic book. They started out with Nintendo Comics because a lawyer who was part owner of Valiant was double dipping and working for Nintendo and Valiant.

Here is my signed copy of Captain N #1. This cover, according to Bob Layton was the first thing he drew for Valiant. He said he drew it in "the lawyers office".

By 1992, I had all the pre-unity that everyone else was looking for. I was trying to complete the Wrestling comics and the Nintendo stuff. Finding it was near impossible, but I remember the excitement in finding these.

I need these books Lol.
Need is a strong word. I think they are nice to have. The ones with heavy stock covers and the $1.95 cover prices were this first ones. They were printed in large numbers. There are some "no price" variants on some that are much harder to find. The ones without the thicker stock covers that have $1.50 cover prices are reprints. They are more difficult to find and even I do not own them all. The hardcover & softcover collections above are not easy to find either.

I've always liked the concept of Magnus Robot fighter. More relevant today then ever. Only have one book of his.. I'd like to collect the original Goldkey books one day.
I liked what Valiant did with him up until 1992. I really don't like the Gold Key stuff and I detest what they did at Valiant after 1992. Overall, I'm not a fan of the character, but he can be written well. The comic above is Italian.

Gold Key Magnus isn't horrible, but it was very simplistic. I preferred the more updated take on it that Jim Shooter did.
