Just wanted to let you usual forum members know that I've moved some things around. Formerly we had all 84 issues (0, 1-83) under Star Wars Republic. That was incorrect based on the indicia.

0-45 are under Star Wars
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/star-wars/ubuq

46-83 are under Star Wars Republic
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/star-wars-republic/pkwqbp

There are links connecting these titles together in case you forget. I'm also adding notes, some UPC's, some creators, and looking at all the prices along the way. I will be in the Dark Horse Star Wars titles for a while updating and adding things. Star Wars in general and Dark Horse's Star Wars specifically seem to be hot right now.

Just an FYI, we allow links to other sites as long as they are not a competitor and it's in the proper area. For example, we don't want people posting their auction links in other areas outside the "comic auctions" forum. If you have a set of eBay auctions that you want to post in the comic auction forum, great. If you want to provide a link to grading tips, great. CGC and CBCS are in no way our competition so any of their links are fine. I hope that helps.

I haven't heard that Star Wars was a dying property. From my perspective, the Mandalorian ignited something when Disney plus released it. That started the speculation on all of the lower produced Dark Horse issues, especially the first appearance issues.

We are reporting the market, not driving the price. I've seen a ridiculous number of Star Wars prices recently and I can assure you that some patient people are still getting deals and steals. Look at the finished auctions for Knights of the Old Republic 31. Someone bought one for $3 and someone else bought one for $33!

Gregan,
Our system is working perfectly. 99% of the time it's related to the year. Our system uses xx/xxxx instead of xx/xx or to put it a different way, you need to use 4 digits for the year. I'm guessing that you copied your cc date exactly as listed on the card, which is only 2 digits.

We had not seen that error so thank you. We are currently working on it. (Well, actually, I'm not working on it. But someone much more skilled than me is working on it. )

Irrevelant and Outdated Overstreet

Comic Tom just released a video hyping the new Overstreet Price Guide. Honestly, I couldn't get through more than a couple of minutes. It was a blatant sales pitch trying to draw on nostalgia to get you to spend money on it. Saying that someone might carry it around at a convention. Ha, ha!

An Overstreet isn't worth buying! There is no way you can convince me to purchase something that is ridiculously outdated.

1. By the time it goes to print, it is outdated. Look at our recently updated values page with 1000 entries. All 1000 issues have been done in the last month! Are they making changes to their guide every day? Every month? Every quarter? No. Every YEAR they update it.

2. What happens if a book gets hot? Are dealers really going to use the Overstreet outdated guide when pricing them? On the rare occasion when someone says they "always use Overstreet", I always say "I'll take all the new hot books you have!" Then shockingly, they say, I don't use it for those books. That's what I thought.

3. Carrying around a massive book at a convention. What would be a better solution? Carrying around your PHONE with the Comics Price Guide free app or carrying around a $30 or $40 heavy Overstreet? It's not even close. Please don't waste your money on Overstreet.

An Overstreet Price Guide is like buying a horse and buggy for nostalgic reasons in an age of automobiles.

New Feature and New Blog Post

As you know, we have been adding in UPC codes to help with the bar code scanner on the app. You have been helping with that as well, which is awesome. Thus far, we've added tens of thousands of UPC codes. There are so many more to go but it's a start. So anyway, the new feature is related to that. You can now type in a UPC code into the search comic field. If the UPC code is in the database the book or books will appear in the search results. Remember that UPC codes originally repeated so you might get 5 or 10 with the same UPC code.

The second thing is a new blog post about an interesting topic. Are today's speculators the same as the 90's era speculators who damaged the comic book market? Fun topic right?

I hope Taskmaster jumps on this thread. I'd like to know how he feels about this post.

Glorkar, interesting thought. I haven't heard people talking about reduced print runs much. The reprints have gone up so much lately. It's weird because prior to this time in history, reprints were seen as less collectible. Things change.

We don't have the ability to search by volume yet but you can search by UPC code. If it's in the system, it will bring up the exact book. If the code isn't in the system, if you add it, it will immediately be searchable.

Side note, in the beginning, UPC codes were used over and over again so you could bring up as many as 10 books. But that is just for books from 1976 to 1986

Collectible,
This is a lot of questions.

The UPC Code search is a very recent addition, earlier this week or late last week. I didn't even know it was being worked on until it was finished. It's a surprise new feature. The way I see it working best is for titles that have several volumes like Venom or Vampirella. You don't want to go through pages of results so you type in the UPC code. On to the questions...

So zactly how do we do that? Type the number into the search field
is that feature only in the app? It will not work on the app yet.

you said 'yet' on the ability to search by volume, so does that mean it's being looked into? We have not started work on that feature since we just heard the request. I personally don't know how much work this would take to accomplish.

and then how do we type the code in? With your fingers smile
with the spaces between the sets of numbers or not? No spaces
and adding the last group that specifies the actual book, spaced or not from the main UPC numbers? No spaces

selling about 6000 comics from All ages...

When you're selling thousands of comics you have to evaluate 3 things, Time, Money, and Work.

Do you want to sell fast? (Time)
If you want to sell fast then you need to understand that you will get a fraction of the total value, maybe 30 to 50% Someone that buys a big lot has to be able to make their money back and receive a profit for their work.

Do you want more cash? (Money)
If you want more money then you need to sell individually or in smaller lots. This will take more time and work but you should receive more money for your efforts.

To sell on CPG you need to have a premium membership which is $50/year. Nothing when you compare it to eBay fees.
