I know you weren't being seriously insulting. But if it DID have a low print run like oxbladder suggested, it would explain why this one... and not any of those others... is so much.
And best comment goes to dmting. |

Joe Jusko has done an exclusive cover for a reprint of G.I. Joe #21 (the silent issue) coming out next month.

It's only available through 1st Print Comics (https://www.facebook.com/1st-Print-Comics-120209043578/). They WILL be taking my money! |

If they weren't sealed, there's a better chance of molds getting into the comic. But yeah, I didn't think about the plastic breaking down into chemicals that could do damage. |

Nice! IN the early 70s Marvel did quite a few horror titles: Chamber of Secrets, Chamber of Chills, Where Creatures Roam, Where Monsters Dwell, etc. |

"it's not a musty damp environment in our attic. In the summer it's like a hot oven." - Which is bad in a different way.
"All the OP said was tubs" - Yes, great big plastic bathtubs. Some of them come with covers to keep the hot water up to temp. |

I don't have any, but I absolutely love comics from the EC age - especially Pre-Code. I've got some reprints, but finding and actually paying for the originals is another matter. |

Is it for home display reasons? Partially yes!
Before I was 5 years old (around 1971), I found a couple of comic books in the house (probably one of my older brothers). The first one was a "House Of Mystery". There were some "House Of Secrets" too. I read them all. Then in the 7-11 one day, I saw The Spinner Rack! It had Spider-Man (from the cartoon)! And it had one with Batman (from the TV show)!
The stories and art...I love reading in general, but really I love being able to appreciate the forms of art and text together. Then there's the covers. And in the older comics, the ads. They're like a whole medium themselves. I love seeing the changes in art-style and story-telling over the decades.
The nostalgia... Yeah. When reading a comic from a certain time period, you're also taken back a bit to that time. (Read some of Snapper Carr's dialog in the early 60s JLA.) When reading my older issues, I'll think to myself "What would it have been like as a 10 year old kid reading this comic in my treehouse with my friends in 1952?"
Home display... They're all boxed in the office room, but I take some of them out to show people when they're over. So I guess that still counts. Once the kids move out and I convert one of their rooms to The Comic Room, I'll put some up on the wall.
I even love the history of the comic book industry itself. I love the stories about the people and the business in the golden age days at Timely and National, and stories about how things evolved. |

Lower-right corner piece out. (This one really hurts it.) Upper-Right small corner crease. Top edge slight abrasion. Miswrap very noticeable. Unobtrusive sun shadow on back cover.
I'd say due to the low number of defects, despite that corner piece out, it would get an 8.0 because the other defects aren't very severe. |

The publisher is Frew. They're Australian comics. The Phantom isn't a common/popular superhero, and those aren't old issues (like from the 40s). They're all worth a couple of dollars each. But that might not be what someone is willing to pay. People will be expecting a "bulk discount" on 180 of them. |

The "Gene Autry, western, Popeye, Felix the Cat, I Love Lucy, The Three Stooges" comics don't sell for what superhero ones do. It's what people like and want. But if they're 1940s comics, and in REALLY nice condition, they could be worth anywhere from a hundred to a couple hundred each. You'd have to give us the exact publisher, title, issue number, and publish date for us to give you specific info. And then it's all based on condition. For that you'd have to post pictures. Some of us like doing this... we consider it fun. |

Yes, for Lucy - 1954.
Gene Autry could be Fawcett 1941 series, Fawcett 1947, Dell 1943 series, Dell 1944 Series, or Dell 1946 series.
Popeye could be McKay 1937 series, Dell 1941 series, or Dell 1948 series.
Felix The Cat could be Dell Dell 1942 series or 1948 series.
Three Stooges could be St. John 1949 series.
There's only 1 person here who knows. (Will they tell?) And I always figure when people say "Mint" it means an 8.0, and "REALLY nice" means about a 6.0 or 7.0. |

Godzilla #21A (Marvel) - Not true?
sclingerman
|
The 1977-1979 Godzilla series by Marvel lists a #21 and a #21A. The #21A says "35-cent variant. Low distribution". However, the picture of issue #21 also has a 35 cent cover price, just like the one of #21A. The pictures are the same. I can't find a #21 ANYWHERE that is NOT a 35 cent cover price. So either the variant is a really "square" or "diamond" price box, or the scan is wrong, or this just doesn't exist. If it doesn't really exist, then the #21A entry should be removed. |

OK..... So then the #21B is a 40 cent variant (according to the CBR site), and I request that the comment needs to be changed to read "40-cent variant. Low distribution.".
And we don't even really have solid evidence for this being true. I've searched for this, and the CBR is the only place I see it. So is there some CPG term for this, where we've HEARD a comic exists, but don't have visual proof? Something like "Supposedly exists."? |
