Marcus, I'm not sure why you would put them on Ebay when you can sell them on CPG with no fees. Plus you might have a potential buyer here. |

Reading anything good?

Batman White Knight - Sean Murphy really displayed his Batman knowledge in the first series. There is one scene when Joker has all these old toys and Batman items, most are obscure. The different approach to Harley Quinn was interesting too.
Donny Cates Books - That guy can write. If you've read the new Thor #1 or recent Venom issues you know what I'm talking about.
Middlewest - Skottie Young has created an interesting world that alternates between innocent and violent. It's a fun read
I haven't read Killadelphia yet but it's got some hype behind it and I want to read it. Ron |

Does the indicia read, "Crisis on Infinite Earths 100-page Giant" as you list in the title? I don't think it's in the database so I need the exact title. Thanks for finding this. Ron |

We don't consider the Preview guide to be a comic because most of it isn't a comic, it's a marketing book and order form. Ron |

White pages or better grade?
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Cream pages and worse indicate that the paper is starting to deteriorate. It's a clue that the book wasn't stored properly at some time in it's life.
Short story - I once looked at a collection from someone who didn't know anything about comics, he just liked the cover art. He didn't bag or board his books. In fact, he stored them in a garage attic with no heating and cooling. (in Indiana) I started thumbing through the piles of books and some of them were brittle and started breaking apart. It was horribly sad because he had Batman 11 - 500! The paper was destroyed from the summer heat and winter cold. So, even though I desperately wanted the books, I passed on them. I was afraid that they would break into little pieces on the short ride home. Ron |

Toy and action figure version of CPG
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
I know that you are trying to be helpful and I appreciate that. We will never publish a print version because we believe that it's a bad model in today's world. By the time we publish it, some values are incorrect. We make thousands and thousands of price changes each year. This happens daily. To us, printing it would be going back in time.
The supplemental income and bringing awareness to Comics Price Guide would be highly valuable. We just need to do it in a different way. |

Defiant1, I had no idea that there were that many different ones. Famous Firsts, Marvel Treasury, and Collector's Edition are the only ones that I remember.
How do you store them? A friend of mine was asking about it yesterday. |

Let me offer a few suggestions to help
1. If you have Newsstand issues get our free app and scan those issues. If we have the UPC in the system (I think we've finished Uncanny X-men) then the issue will come up and you can add it to your collection with no typing.
2. If you have trouble with adding issues you can call our offices and we will happily walk you through it. In an hour, I can add hundreds of books to the system so it can be done quickly. 1-866-982-6642 You can talk to me today, if you want. Ron |

In today's digital world, there is no advantage to making a print model the ultimate goal. It can definitely be a time capsule to show how prices have changed. I believe that spurs interest in the hobby and it's a good thing. Overstreet is a horrible source for prices and they have no intention of ever migrating it to a digital format. This site has the advantage that any print publication would be like an advertising flyer that you don't have to invest in and give away. The customer preorders and buys the advertising flyer (i.e. a book or monthly magazine). You can sell ads with QR codes next to them to steer customers to a website and a more expansive digitally formatted ads, coupons, and information. Most articles I've read say that print and web marketing are most beneficial when they are used in conjunction with one another. The old print model is dying, but the all-digital realm is at the mercy of search engines and competing services. It's easy to drown in the sea of data on the web. The advantage of an outdated "print" version of a price guide is that it's a permanent ad promoting people to visit the site for the most current value. Collectors will save them just like they do comics. 10 years from now when someone is thumbing through a comic box, they'll think... "I wonder if the CPG site is still around." They'll enter it into their phone or they'll have one of those devices that reads a person's actual thoughts (brain waves) and searches the web without a mouse or keyboard.
One of the most well thought out responses I've ever seen about print versus digital. You make some valid points about the reason to go to print. R |

Well, because of your picture we know that issue 119 has a Ragnarok reference. What we don't know is does issue 118 back to issue 83 have a Ragnarok reference. I did several searches and couldn't find any conclusive answers to this question. |

Comic Book Collection

Tomorrow I'm going to look at a comic book collection that has 15 long boxes from 1966 to 1990. When you do this kind of thing it's difficult because you never know what the condition will be and how the owner values them. They might have great stuff but want more than market value or they could be reasonable about the price but not the grade. It's a tricky thing.
Anyway, I'm cautiously optimistic because he sent me a list of Amazing Spiderman issues and a picture of issue #300 From #39 to 136 he has about half of those issues (No Morbius issue 101) From #180 to 340 he has a complete run (that includes 194, 238, 252, 298, 299, 300, 316) He only has a handwritten list of the rest of the collection, which I haven't seen.
If you're looking for a specific book please let me know in advance and I'll try to help you out. Ron |

One of my goals for this year was to make some extra money on the side so I expect to buy some things to sell and I'm 100% sure there will be things I'll keep. So filling in my collection and picking up keys to sell. I don't think that I'll come home with 15 long boxes. That wouldn't go over well with my wife since I already have 9 long boxes to sell. Opps. |
