Freak Brothers #1 (which printing?) - Added Info

FOR ADMINS and all others befuddled like me.
Trying to identify with Printing of "The Collected Adventures of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers"
Correct Title - Fabulous Furry Freak Brother #1
On the 8th print the Jesus ad on page 50 (last interior page) - the price for the mail off information goes from $1.25 to $0.50
On the 9th print the interior pages are labeled "Special Pink Paper" Edition.
Indeed the pages are pink. Thought it was just fading but they are actually Pink

Is there a way to list a whole box for sale?
kds_comics
|
Suggest a two step process but admins might have better solution, This assumes you have no comics in your sales queue
Select all the comics in your box (up to 100 at a time) and select "add to sales queue"
Go to your sales queue (i.e STAR A SALE page)
Select "Check all"
Select "Set Other Information" (EXAMPLE: Pay via PayPal or money order. Shipping starting at $0.99)
On the other information tab select "Use on Checked"
Should return to START A SALE page
Two choices Go to "Your Starting Price" window Put in a starting price for all checked comics and select "SET CHECKED" or select "USE CPG VALUE"
You can revise the price after the comic is on sale - but this will get the most out there quickly
Have not tried this so see how it goes.

just to tweak the answer more, it's a 'triple threat'--origin of the black costume/symbiote, 1st IN CONTINUITY app of the black costume (story takes place before ASM 252 but 252 was published first), and of course the symbiote becomes Venom and then part of it creates Carnage. The Venom part is what drove it to new heights after the new black costume frenzy died down some, then the Venom movies boosted it way more.
Well said.Plus people want it. Drives the price up. |

Grease pencil

not to be TOO sarcastic, but there's this neat thing called google (or whichever search engine you like) that has all the answers. if you search 'how to remove grease pencil on comic book" you'll get youtube videos and tutorials and all kinds of professional and amateur info. do NOT do what the top result says and use acetone on a cloth (that one is not for comic books), or any liquid period. usually you can carefully use a dry cleaning pad and get most or all of it off. the CGC forums have multiple posts on this subject that will show on the search results.
writing on the cover will usually kill the grade by 2 or more 'full' steps, as in a NM 9.4 will be more like a Fine 6.0, or even VG if you go by Overstreet standards, as VG is the 1st grade they allow 'initials etc' on the cover, vs date stamps etc.. grease pencil is usually 1 of the easier things to remove, so worth the expense to pay a pro to do it for a book like that in high grade, especially if you want to get it pro graded.
there ya go, have fun reading..
I agree - try a dry cotton cloth. If you have a dollar comic you can experiment on that with the grease pencil - you might try a soft white eraser. This is dependent on the material of the cover. The Silver/Bronze paper covers may tear while the more modern plastic/paper mix covers will hold up better. Do not use liquid likely to disintegrate paper cover. edited by kds_comics on 3/2/2023 |

Great job. Keep up the good work. You are retaining loyal customers like me with constant improvements.
Not sure how far in the future but if I could connect a bar code reader to my CPG inventory I would be in business. Save me a ton of time after Comics and Toys shows.
Business class rate perhaps? Thanks |

New variant additions

Hi,
I've noticed there's been a massive lag in adding/approving new variants for various titles. Is there something more we could be doing to help that process go faster?
I have a few variants in for SiKtC from Feb that still haven't been approved, which is why I'm asking.
Along those same lines, it would be awesome to have an easier way of tracking variant submissions than having to remember every one we've put in and then going to look them up separately (I'm mostly bringing this up for collection purposes. If you approve my variant submissions and I don't even know it, I may never even add it).
You just need the publishing companies to stop coming out with fifty variants for every issues #1 that is rebooted ever two year. Yikes!
CPG says fast way is to submit "new variant" in title issue.
I think they are looking for volunteers/free labor to come into their office 50 hours a week or so and help them out. You can always volunteer if you are in the home office area! |

can we add scans of back covers

The only way to do this is to take two pictures, one of the front and one of the back. Then blend the two pictures together with an app like Pic Stitch. I have the free option. Then you could post it in your gallery. The site can accept wider photos since we have to do that with wrap around covers. I hope that helps, Ron
I have done this with a blank cover that an artist has drawn on front and back. Alternatively put the comic flat in the scanner and scan front and back covers at one time. Not recommended for condition reasons on most comics.
On most books back cover is just and ad and is not really of value.
For wrap covers most are shown here on CPG front and back. |

Western Comics - Fading into Sunset?
kds_comics

Admins and Fellow collectors.
Yes - I do like those old Western from the 1940s and 1950s - especially with photo covers.
No- I did not grow up in that era.
It is apparently underappreciated how most of the world's problems can be solved with a left hook to the jaw. (Okay - it's only fiction here)
So underappreciated that these comics values continue to sink for
Roy Rogers Gene Autry Rocky Lane Lone Ranger
Tonto Western Roundup (many more)
No offense here - but the guide prices here are way off - I put in a few value suggestions based on recent sales - but perhaps the whole genre needs another look.
For example - while the guide has Western Roundup #1 in 2.0 condition at $40 - one just sold two months ago in 2.0/3.0 for $5.
Not enough hours in the day - I get it but I did try to make deals on a pile of Western comics recently and trader pointed out how far off your values were.
I respectfully submit that it is time to put these on the list to be re-evaluated.
Thanks

Is there a way to see the cost basis of my comics as a whole. I put in the cost I paid for every comic when adding a book and would like to see if I can see what I paid for my whole collection to what it is worth now. Is this possible?
If you export a box to a PDF file and you have a newer version of Microsoft Word - Word will open the PDF file and you can manipulate it copy into Excel. They you can manipulate the numbers to get a cost of comics bought for each box.
