I tried getting one from my LCS for the heck of it, but they were sold out. I'm not really into flipping books, but you can bet your behind I would have done so on this one.

I like the second printing cover. It's a nice, clear shot of the costume / hero (whatever you wanna call it, because, you know, spoilers).

I've actually wondered about what editors are okay to add. I'll usually do Editor, Assistant Editor, Associate Editor... anything like that. I don't tend to do Editor in Chief. To me that's just the boss supervising all of the lower editors that do the actual work. I could be wrong, so I'm interested in what others have to say.

Wonder Woman 1984 Review - SPOILERS!!

glorkar
glorkar
Seriously, this post contains spoilers! Don't read it if you haven't seen the movie yet!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

In my opinion, the movie was terrible. I didn't mind watching it, but I have absolutely no intention of ever watching it again. It barely counted as a super hero movie.
.
.
The plot was super weak and there were so many holes in.
Honestly, it's tough to find a single redeeming feature of the film.
.
.
The Intro: What was the point?
- Child Diana found a creative solution to a problem (lost her horse so she took the slide).
- Because she missed a gate, she was disqualified. She was told she cheated and cheating is the same as lying.
- So the lesson is that you shouldn't find creative solutions to unexpected situations because it's equivalent to lying.
.
.
The 80s: How do we know?
- There were old cars parked on the streets.
- Tube TVs.
- Outfit change montage (fashion is fluid so this could have happened last week).
- Cold War (we're kind of still at war with Russia, so this isn't definitive 80s).
.
.
Wishes: Not consistent.
- Wishes come at the cost of what you hold most dear (until Max becomes the wish stone, then he takes what he wants)
- The thing you lose is gone right away (unless you're Diana. She sort of, kind of gets a little bit weaker throughout the entire movie but never loses her power completely).
- Everyone only gets one wish (except Barbara. She gets two = be like Diana, then be an apex predator).
.
.
Invisible Jet: Cool but pointless.
- The jet is a nice call back to one of Wonder Woman's toys from the books.
- Diana never learns to fly it.
- Diana learns to bodily fly (sort of like Superman, sort of like Spider-Man using her lasso to grab onto things and swing)
.
.
Golden Armor: Looks cool, but pointless.
- Diana wears it only for a short period of time.
- It had wings, but Diana already learned to fly without them.
- It was supposed to be indestructible, but Barbara tore it to shreds in a matter of minutes.
- Where did Diana find the armor? If it was supposed to be that powerful, why didn't Asteria hide it and keep it since she's still alive?
.
.
What did Wonder Woman actually do?
- Diana fought Barbara because Barbara wanted to keep her wish of being noticed in a good way for a change.
- Diana used her lasso to broadcast a plea for everyone to give up their wish.
-- Nobody gives up their wish until Max gives up his (because he all of a sudden remembers that he has a kid that he's partially responsible for).

I really liked the first movie too. I think that's why I was so disappointed with this one.
.
I might have to re-watch the young Diana scene. I thought they flashed the target as she was zipping down the hill like she passed it without realizing it was even there.
.
I know what you mean with Maxwell's motivation. He was abused and belittled by his father when he was young, so he wanted to be a better dad to his kid? And his way of doing that was to be successful? But he was failing so he looked for a shortcut (I guess tying in to young Diana) but the shortcut made things worse in the long run?
.
I thought Cheetah was pretty straight forward. She wanted to be popular, then powerful. Those are the two things she felt she never had in her *real* life.

We should add the comment that Werewolf by Night #1 (the 2020 release) is the first appearance of Jake Gomez (he is a Werewolf by Night in this series).

Walmart Exclusives - 2nd Prints?

glorkar
glorkar
I've noticed that there have been variants for a lot of the Walmart exclusives.

I have to presume that these are considered 2nd prints, even though they don't explicitly state it.
As example, I've picked up the following:

Venom 25 - purple title
Wolverine Infinity Watch - green title
Strange Academy 1 - blue title

I only have the Strange Academy in front of me at the moment, but the only difference on the indicia is the date (January 2021).

Anyone else notice this? Too bad there isn't a comprehensive checklist for these guys, lol. Or is there?

I'm honestly surprised they are still a thing. They were toys and a cartoon for me growing up.
I get the whole nostalgia thing, but who would have thought they'd be this popular still. Same goes for GI Joe.

Derrick has some great covers lately. That Batman 99 cover with Clown Hunter is fantastic.

Idk man, I'm from Wisconsin, so I gotta back the Pack. They're pretty much dominating this year. Even if the Browns make it past KC, they don't stand a chance against Green Bay wink

1st Appearance of Red X?

Any thoughts on which is the true first appearance?
Teen Titans Go! #23 or Future State Teen Titans #1?

The CGC Census note for TTGo states "Red X Appearance", but not 1st appearance.
DC blurbs Future State TT states "Don't miss the first comic appearance of this Red X, previously seen only in the hit animated TV series Teen Titans Go!"

* It's curious how it states /this/ Red X...
