I thin someone already commented on your other thread also. But all you have to do is search for "models" and it ends up being the first result:

Shipping Advice Needed

I have never had to pay $15 to ship 3 comics, even TPB's.
So, 3 bits of advice I guess. 1. Check out your size and weight. 3 comics should be around 10 oz's, maybe a bit more or less depending on size. USPS Standard should be at around $7-8 for that weight, not $15. If the comics are super valuable then express + insurance makes sense, even then you can use prepaid envelopes or boxes to keep prices down. 2. Use a shipping service like eBay or PirateShip (they get pretty deep discounts over just using USPS) 3. People have differing opinions on this, so I'm sure someone will chime in but... When it's bulk comics, nothing all that expensive or valuable, I use media mail. Almost as fast as standard USPS and a lot cheaper (you can't add insurance, etc.. though so definitely has to be low value). |

Just to follow up on Media Mail. I use it regularly. Again, only for bulk comics of very little value, and have never had a single issue. The PO is allowed to open and check if they are "educational" materials. In practice, it happens very little. And, if they do open it and find something, they will just charge for the difference, it's not like it's "illegal".
Just for context. I am, as I type this, mailing a 13 pound package using PirateShip from FL to TX using USPS Ground Advantage Cubic.. $13. Granted, further away is more, but it's not supposed to be $15 for 2 pounds |

Yea, good point, glorkar. No advertising. Which also means a lot of the newer comics are good also funny enough.
I dunno about PO's asking about Media Mail, I always just have my mail person pick it up at my house. They never knock and ask. As far as refunding if they get a bill cause the PO opened it up and charged? Yea, that's the chance you take - much cheaper shipping for a crap ton of packages, and once or twice you may have to bite the bullet, the math has always checked out for me. I hadn't heard that they could blacklist you though. I suppose if I do ever get a letter or something I'd probably stop.
Also, side note. I was shipping just a regular old paperback yesterday, and Ground Advantage was actually cheaper than Media, so that's also worth keeping in mind. I guess under 10oz or so it's better to use Ground.
Regardless of which what service you choose to use to ship, make sure you don't just go through the USPS. Use one of the services like PirateShip or Shippo. Much better discounts (Media Mail prices are Media Mail prices, btw, no discounts for that no matter where you choose to ship it from). edited by xvipah73 on 6/23/2025 |

USPS has the padded, pre-paid, express envelope that's, like, $10.30 or something like that. It fits comics pretty well, especially if you do the cardboard sandwich.
On that note, no discounts for pre-paid envelopes/boxes either. Discounts from those service are for "regular" Ground or Express. |

Right, sorry. Priority, not Express, got my nomenclature mixed up. The pre-paid envelopes are Priority, both the padded and the legal ones Collectibleshop is talking about work well.
And no, this was on Ebay. Just a regular sized paperback, I think it was 6 oz or something, in a normal envelope. Media was $4.63 or something like that, Ground was $4.57 or something. Not a lot of savings of course, I just found it interesting. edited by xvipah73 on 6/24/2025 |

Grading my comics

Best option in Italy is to either find a good local shop that can help you grade, or buy an Overstreet grading guide and learn to do it yourself.
You're right in that comics that were handled carefully, read once, and then stored with a bag and board are probably better than an 8.5. But you'd also be amazed how many little things can add up to a lower grade as well. Better to be sure. edited by xvipah73 on 7/1/2025 |

Depending on the comic and its grade it can absolutely be worth it. Also can be worth it to encapsulate some comics that you actually care about and want to keep "safer".

Best way to get that one in will be to put it in as a variant on the series page rather than here. They have a queue they work off of and if it's there they'll see it. |
