Here is a really nice movie promo. It's a color booklet for one of Robin Williams' movies.

Here is a promo item that I got at the screening of "Tales From the Crypt: Bordello of Blood". A cryptkeeper mask.

I would think that items like this are pretty rare and many would get discarded.

I've heard of you!
Some of my board members helped me create a checklist years ago but I don't really collect the stuff.

The last thing I remember adding was the Marvel 1994 Annual Report. I bought a copy and they had a small cameo in it.

I've really been into Marvel's bronze age horror revival the past few years and since then I found public domain horror over at Comic Book Plus ( http://comicbookplus.com/?cbplus=horror ) which is pretty awesome- ads and all. Are there any EC books someone can recommend for me to try and hunt down as a primer?
It really depends upon what you like. Horror? Sci-fi? Crime? War?
Some people say War comics are their favorite. Some Say Tales From the Crypt. Some say Sci-fi. I know people who only like Mad.
My favorite series is Shock Suspenstories followed by Crime Suspenstories. Those are usually more affordable. Maybe if I owned more sci-fi, it'd be my favorite.
The reprints are a cheap way to get started to read the stories. To appreciate the art, there is no comparison to an original. I buy originals for that reason. It's especially true for Wally Wood art and Al Williamson.
I'd say find the genre that interests you and go with that.. |

Lol could those eye holes be any smaller. Although it does look realistic Hmm, Don't remember "What Dreams May Come".
It's thin flat cardboard, but it looks realistic.
"What Dreams May Come" was visually a very interesting movie. The story was both dark and one of relentless hope. Robin Williams goes to heaven and then has to save his wife who went the other direction. Unfortunately, I did not feel that the ending was plausible. Artistically, I seem to recall that some scenes were like paintings that were fluid and in motion.

Wow. Just watched an alternate ending on youtube that's worse than the one they went with.

I had a buyer tell me that's how he wanted me to ship a high grade comic to him to keep the postage cost down. In other words, he wouldn't pay for the adequate packaging. I chose not to sell the book.
This is why I no longer buy online.

The real factor is they are paying thousands in rent & overhead and they have to sell a lot of comics to make that back and turn a profit. A book may be popular and they have no means to replace it because they are stuck running their store everyday. It makes no sense to sell out at $10 and only have $1 comics for sale on the wall. At least you asked about the comic and the price. I rarely see anything in our local shops that interest me enough to ask. People used to come into the shops and sell their collections. It still happens, but not as often. People give it a shot on eBay first and their best stuff is gone by the time they walk into the store. I don't think it's funny. To me it's sad like walking through a nursing home and seeing people that smell of urine. Why don't they clean themselves up and do better? It really depends upon how far gone they are. If the shop was really making money on everything else, they wouldn't be trying to gouge people on the stuff they do. edited by Defiant1 on 5/21/2017 |

I always laugh when someone says Mycomicshop packages well. I rank their customer service and shopping experience as one of the worst encounters I've ever experienced from a retailer. Poor packaging was just the final excrement icing on the burnt cake. I will never buy from them again. One order was enough to lose me as a customer for life.
In fairness though, Conan did email me and ask for my suggestions on how to improve. They may be better, but I don't really care.
And yes. I will repeat this story for the rest of my life. Some have heard it before but I found the shopping experience THAT offensive. |

There has been an increased interest in later printings. They used to be deemed inferior and people avoided purchasing them. The collective attitude that later printings were inferior and less desirable has made them more difficult to find... especially in high grade. For this reason, there is a wave of new collectors that collect them because they are an obscure find. Also, in the 90's, Marvel would give their later printings a Gold ink to make them different and appear to be a Premium book. It appears that DC used a silver ink on your comic. This comic has two things going for it. It's a later printing which has become more popular among collectors. It's got a silver ink that makes it different for collectors and that makes it very popular for collectors of the silver/gold ink variants. The fact that it was a less popular titles is probably helping the value. The silver/gold ink variant collectors probably need this to complete their set and it's likely harder to find. It would have an abnormal demand because it's an abnormal comic. I imagine that it's probably not a good story, but it's an interesting oddity and it completes a set of the books treated with a special metallic shade of ink. edited by Defiant1 on 5/29/2017 |

I assume you are talking about a shrink wrapped polybag from the original publisher. If you are talking about selling it, I would let the buyer take the risk on the grade. Some buyers may want it in the original packaging. |

If this is what you have, you should be able to grade the exterior of the book through the bag. I would definitely not open it because you'd risk reducing the number of buyers interested by doing so. A professional grading company will open it. Again this will reduce the number of interested buyers. There is no advantage to having it professionally graded. It's expensive to have it professionally graded and it'd just drive up the cost of what you'd need to get back out of it. It also comes with a magazine and sealed copy would give a buyer more confidence that it was complete.

I'd look it up online (eBay) to see what graded copies are selling for. If it comes back less than a 9.6, I don't think buyers are going to want to pay the extra grading fees that it would cost to get it graded. If you don't see any graded copies online, that might be a hint that it's best to just sell it like it is. |

My advice is pretty much the same. The only exception might be a very popular book that has a very high demand. In those cases, a graded copy might fetch more money and make it worth breaking out of the bag to get it graded. |

It'll give you the little green button to click and add the direct path to the image
Also, I see that your dead links don't have the full path to the image. It's just got the file name. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I've got my images uploaded to photobucket and they can give you a direct link to the image that will work on messageboard. Just be warned that photobucket is bogged down with too many annoying ads on their site.
