Lady Mechanika HCF 2017/2018 Merge? And Add 2019

I was thinking it might make sense to merge the two current listings of Lady Mechanika Halloween ComicFest into one (like the FCBD releases). And maybe add in the subtitle text "Halloween ComicFest"
2017 = https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/lady-mechanika-hcf-2017/pjwxor 2018 = https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/lady-mechanika-hcf-2018/pkqpls
Looks like we're missing 2019 as well. I've attached a cover scan. |

Absolutely Crazy! White Widow #1 Variants

Okay, so I knew issue 1 of White Widow from Absolute had a bunch of variant covers. Well, I meandered over to their website and checked out the cover gallery. Wow. Just wow. They have 130 different covers posted. That's just nuts.

So, anybody on here read actual books? You know, the kind without pictures, lol.
The other day my significant other tells me that one of her coworkers brought in a big box of books that she was giving away. Automatically I assumed they were a bunch of Harlequin Romance ones, the kind with Fabio wannabes on the cover. She laughed and said no. They were a bunch by Robert Jordan. That caught my interest. I've heard good things about the Wheel of Time series and have been wanting to track down the books to read them for quite some time. Turns out the entire series is there! I'm so excited. But man, those books are freaking huge! The shortest one is like, 500-600 pages or something.
I told her to tell her coworker thanks. I've been wanting to read them for a while. Now I'm going to be reading them for a while |

Hmm. Haven't heard of him before. Don't think I'd enjoy the Star Wars books much (never got into the fandom) but some of the others look interesting. |

I read a ton too. Also mostly fantasy and sci-fi. The books that got me into it all as a kid was Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. To this day it is still my favorite. I'll go back and do a reread every few years. I'm also a big fan of Patricia Briggs. The Mercy Thompson books are a good read if you're into Weres / shifters.
Do you use Goodreads to track what you've read? |

Is it just me or are all of the links from individual books to their main titles broken?
For example, going to Amazing Spider-Man shows no issues: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/amazing-spider-man-the/pjywcp |

Glad I'm not the only one. I'm using Microsoft Edge Version 94.0.992.47
Logged out to test and I get the same results as Defiant1. Everything shows up when logged out. Logging back in gives the error page.
Just for reference, I do not have a subscription account. |

Sometimes it can be tricky to locate books in the database. It's all about what keywords you use. @comicman1955, were there specific issues you were looking for? Are the rest of the books in the series there, just not certain ones? |

There's an issue with the price guide right now. I'm sure they're working on it. In the meantime, if you search for the title /and/ an issue number it will show up for you. |

You appear to be correct. It is working for me again as well. I know the admins didn't chime in, but I'm sure it's because they were working on resolving the issue. As always, thanks for all you do cpg crew. |

This could be a neat feature, but in it's current state it really isn't useful. There are very few characters entered. The characters that are entered are not listed on very many of the books they are actually in. I do like the labels, but the click and search bit needs quite a bit of work.
Is there a way for us users to be able to add characters to a listing? Would they need to be added at the higher level before we could select them (similar to adding creators)? |

Facebook Marketplace has worked pretty well for me in the past. Selling in bulk though, you're definitely going to take a hit vs what the comics are worth. You'd be lucky to get $0.50 a book. If you know you have some key issues, you'd get the best price by listing those on their own. |

Definitely an error. I scoured "the bay" and found a couple others like it. It's strange because they are both CGC'd but there is no remark about it. Couldn't find any in the sold listings so I wouldn't use these as good price comparisons. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384476500359?hash=item598495d187:g:gvoAAOSwVzFgqTPK https://www.ebay.com/itm/384251218252?hash=item597728494c:g:1m0AAOSws4xg3MYF edited by glorkar on 11/2/2021 |

This feature is a nice feature but it isn't fully utilized yet since it's still being beta tested. I worked on Morbius to show the potential for it. As it expands it only gets better.
Who should we tackle next? Ron
Man, that's a tough call actually. Someone with fewer appearances (ie: Flatline, Emily Bright, etc...) should be easy to knock out.
On a related note, the two listings for Batman (Bruce Wayne) seem to be in error. One of them has a single issue (Superman #76 - Batman and Superman discover each other's identities). The character descriptions are similar but not the same. |

It'd still be an error though, even if it effects all newsstand variants, since it has the wrong title printed there. It just wouldn't add any value. |

Really? I mean, I guess it gets you thinking about the other series. It's odd though. I mean, "advert for other stuff we sell" is not what I think of when I see that. |

Cameo vs First Full
glorkar
|
I'm sure this has come up in the past, and will come up again in the future. But after reading this weeks books, this one stuck in my mind. When is a first appearance only considered a cameo? In my mind a cameo is a partial shot of the character, maybe a name drop. But a full image, name and speaking bits seems like a full. . Examples: . Nubia and The Amazons #1 https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/nubia-the-amazons/1/phuybsq 1st Appearance of New Amazons: Andromeda, Zina, Delphine, Karessi, Bia *This seems to be noted as their first appearance *several pages of images and dialog . Strange Academy #13 (not in guide yet) Gaslamp is named, shown on two pages and has dialog. *Everything online is pointing as issue #15 being his first full. *So is this a cameo? . Venom #1 (doesn't appear to be in guide yet) Meridius is named, shown on two pages and has dialog. *I can find nothing online even referencing him. *So is this a cameo? . . edited by glorkar on 11/12/2021 |
