10/28/2020 Topic: Longest Comic Run in Your Collection glorkar	These are some seriously impressive runs! I mostly just picked up books that caught my attention. I mean, the longest run I have is Gen 13 30 issues (Mini-Series issue 0 to vol. 1 issue 23). I'm missing 0.5 from the mini-series and 0 from vol. 1, but they were after-the-fact releases so I don't really count them. I'm missing four issues to push it out to 43.
10/28/2020 Topic: Punchline glorkar	So now that Punchline's been out for a bit, what is everyone's take on her? Do you love her? Hate her? Love to hate her? Do you think the character has staying power? Personally, I'm about halfway through the Joker War story arc. I kind of like her. She enjoys killing and manipulation. There doesn't seem to be a lot of strategy in her playbook yet though. More just causing chaos and murdering. Joker always has some plan. I hope she picks up more of that. 11/1/2020 Topic: Timeless and Virgin Variant Covers glorkar	How does everyone else feel about Timeless and Virgin variant covers? I mean, they are usually gorgeous and nice to look at. But from a functional perspective? They kind of suck. For instance, I just picked up the Timeless variant of Strange Academy #4 (only copy I could find of the issue). Beautiful art of Scarlet Witch on the cover. But you know what? She's not even in the issue. So just looking at a the cover of the book, if you didn't know, you would have no idea what title or issue number you were actually looking at. Especially after it's bagged and boarded. So while it's kind of neat, I'm honestly going to try to avoid those covers if at all possible.

11/2/2020 Topic: Timeless and Virgin Variant Covers glorkar	Yup yup. As a compromise, I really like the Minimal variant covers that DC has been doing. Just One or two very small lines of text in one corner and a slim barcode in another. Doesn't take away from the appeal at all in my opinion. And it seems (for the most part) that the image is relevant to the story.

11/4/2020 Topic: Published Dates glorkar	I've got a question about the dates listed on some books, specifically recent books. The dates seem to be waaaay out of whack. For instance: Batman 102 (https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/batman/102/phpwnsy) Brand new book. I just picked up my copy today. The date on the listing shows January 2021. Obviously this is wrong. Same thing with the two other books I got today (Black Widow 3 and ASM 51.LR). Were these just anticipated release dates? Or is it a bug of some sort? edited by glorkar on 11/4/2020

11/5/2020 Topic: Published Dates glorkar	I was verifying some data and I see that people are actually submitting these dates. See Avengers 38 for example. According to Marvel.com, this was published November 2020. I can verify that my LCS had them in stock. AccountantDan submitted January 2021 for cover A (member level 7) scott.glass submitted January 2021 for cover C (member level 8) I'd like to believe them since their member levels are so high, but what the heck are they doing?
11/5/2020 Topic: Published Dates glorkar	Huh. Just looked at the indicia on my Batman 102 and you're absolutely right. Early January 2021. That makes absolutely no sense to me. I mean, that's two months away! I hope they do some serious adjusting to get it more in sync with the actual publish date. Soooo, anybody want to go upvote those two Avengers 38 dates I noped? *whistling as I'm casually sauntering away...

With so many variant covers and I'm sure massive pre-order numbers, I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of copies flooding the auction sites. I pre-ordered the regular cover A and also the blank cover C for myself. I love the Chew variant, but wasn't prepared to drop that kind of coin on a /maybe/. If prices go stupid, I'll try selling one. If not, they are both neat covers that I'm glad to have in my collection.
11/6/2020 Topic: Published Dates glorkar	What makes it even more confusing is that while there's the published date in the indicia, the actual publisher website lists the release date as the published date. I totally get why we go with what the book says. That's what people have in hand, so that's what they would expect any database to show.
11/8/2020 Topic: Toploaders glorkar	Up until recently, I felt that toploaders were a strange thing and didn't really server much of a purpose. Afterall, a sturdy bag and board basically does the same thing (keeps the comic clean and straight). I've been thinking about them again thought recently. I've got a handful of books that are worth a moderate amount of money ($20-$150). Most of these books are either not worth grading, or I simply don't want / can't afford to have the others graded. I've started wondering if toploaders might actually be worth it for a slightly more rigid and durable protection method in this situation. Does anyone here use them? Are they worth it? Is it just a gimmick?

11/8/2020 Topic: Favorite Book You Got This Week glorkar	My favorite book this week isn't all that special in the grand scheme of things. It's a first print Strange Academy #1 signed J Scott Campbell virgin variant. I love the series and have always been a fan of Mr. Campbells artwork. The only thing that has me a little disappointed is that the sig is a little sloppy. I know it's legit though because I bought it direct from his online store. Still, it's pretty neat and I'm glad I have it.
