Hi guys, I had a customer come in today and sold two first edition Suicide Squad #1's, both in great condition, but the two covers were different. On the CPG site I can only find the one without the bar code. Is the second one, the one with the different upper right price square and the bar code on bottom left a variant? Second Print? What? Everything appears exactly the same inside. Any insight from you guys? I have added a photo of the actual cover scans. Thanks! That looks like it's just a newsstand version and a direct market version. The direct market versions didn't usually have Bar Codes since only very large stores had POS systems and bar code readers. The reason for the different price box is to prevent confusion at stores that weren't specialized. Instead of having multiple prices for different currencies, the newsstand version would just have a price for the market that the book was intended to be sold in. In this case, that would be the US, but there are covers for Canada and Britain. In almost every case, the newsstand version and the direct market version are worth exactly the same, with the exception of the Canadian and British versions.

Capn Doug is exactly correct. If you ordered a subscription directly from DC these comics would come without a bar code on the cover. Hope this helps.
