when you go to member rankings what is direct hit,still new to this site

When you submit missing creator names on books and they are approved they show up there.
Near misses are when what you submitted was rejected.

and they only show the 10 most recent subs, in case you wonder after submitting a bunch. "Slight Misses" will fall off the list after a while, even if you fix the mistake, so don't worry about those unless you get a bunch close together.
