We are in the middle of some serious data structuring. So, I wanted to let you know that when you see things moving around, there is a purpose.

Completed
1. All Wizard Ace books have been moved into their own titles and labeled.
2. All Image Firsts books have been moved into their own titles and are labeled.
3. All Dollar Comics have been moved into their own titles and are labeled.
4. All FCBD comics have been moved into their own titles and are labeled.

Currently in Process
1. All Annuals are being moved into their own titles and labeled.
2. All Facsimiles are being moved into their own titles and not in the main title.

We are also working on eliminating the comments field. We have started tagging things and making those tags searchable. This makes the cover artist, specifically the penciler, the key piece of information. We have changed the text on the site from cover artist to cover penciler and are removing any inker or colorist from those areas. These features are designed to make it easier to search and sort on the website.

All the best,
Ron

Why the move of Annuals and specials away from their associated series? It definitely makes looking things up more tedious and time consuming.

will the annuals/specials/FCBD etc still be under those tabs in the regular series listings too?

Previously, if you were looking up Amazing Spider-Man Annual, you would get 170 Amazing Spider-Man titles.
Now, if you search "Amazing Spider-Man Annual", you get 14 different titles.
That's much easier to figure out which specific issue you need.

The inclusion of the word Annual or Special makes your search more effective.

Recently, publishers have started labeling Annuals as #1 no matter how many issues came before it. Look at Amazing Spider Annual from 2023, it's #1.

https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/the-amazing-spider-man-annual/pirvhv/

or 2024, it's #1
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/the-amazing-spider-man-annual/phxpht/

They are making it difficult to differentiate which one is which.

Both of those titles have different UPC's meaning they are different titles.

Finally, Comics.org and CGC and other websites separate titles out in this format. So if you get a book graded you can look at the title and type it into our site and find the book.

I understand that change can be difficult but we have studied this and are making these changes with consistency and clear intent.

Thanks for the questions,
Ron

Collectible, all of those tabs will be gone soon. Think about how many times you personally have told newbies to click the tab for Annuals. It was difficult for them to find and you helped them. Now the site will be more intuitive for newbies to search Batman Annual instead of trying to search for the book and then the tab.

ok, will adjust my search tips post when the change is completed, so please post when that's done, thanks. and it makes sense to me and should make it easier/quicker to find those type issues.

Any thoughts about putting a link on the pages of the separated books to the series they are associated with?

Something similar to the links with the little fingers on books that change titles (like X-men (1963-1981) to Uncanny X-Men (1981-2011)).
Not sure you can have multiple links like that though.

Glorkar,
That's an interesting idea. We will talk about it.

Collectible,
Some things will change with the comic type menu. The type called "Issues" will remain and now include annuals, specials, giant-size, and king-size. The types that are format differences will remain. So there will still be choices for soft cover, hard cover, trades, digest, and treasury size.

so pretty much the same as it is now? there's multiple more choices currently that should stay but figured you didn't want to list them all.

I guess the best way to summarize it is to say, Issues will now include issues, annuals, specials, Giant-size and king-size. Everything else will remain the same.

so just to make this clear, you mean in the Title search field, when Issues is the Type choice, we can use annuals, specials, Giant-size and king-size in there instead of choosing them in the Issues drop down (which still includes them too) right?

Very glad you are moving Free Comic Book Day Comics to the FCBD title with the year.
This makes them much easier to find.

Not big value but previously some were difficult to find.

Thank you

KDS

We are also working on eliminating the comments field. We have started tagging things and making those tags searchable. This makes the cover artist, specifically the penciler, the key piece of information. We have changed the text on the site from cover artist to cover penciler and are removing any inker or colorist from those areas. These features are designed to make it easier to search and sort on the website.

Just in case anyone sees this... there's an ongoing problem with people still submitting inkers and colorists for cover penciler, mostly due to publishers listing cover credits without designating who did what. so I'm advising people that the penciller is the 1st name listed inside the comic's cover credits, inker 2nd, colorist 3rd, unless 1 person did both of those last 2. So just submit the 1st name for cover penciler and forget the others for cover credit. There's only one cover penciler 99% of the time. Dunno if Bryan could add some note on the sub form to remind people to submit only the cover penciler name? probably not tho.
