I recently purchased through ebay a polybagged comic featuring the Fantastic Four, attainable only at the 2024 San Diego Comic Con. When I bought it was billed as a virgin variant of Fantastic Four #22. I submitted the cover to CPG be included but after receiving it it seemed a little too thick to be that issue. I was able to find a photo of the back (I am not taking it out of MY polybag) showing the words "Marvel Zero". I then submitted it to CPG under Marvel Zero. That submission was removed. I've asked my local comic shop about it and they were unable to confirm what it really is. If it's listed somewhere in CPG, I am unable to find it. Can anyone help me determine what this comic is? I do not want to open the bag.

Hi, heard of google? plenty of these on e**y. It IS Fantastic Four #22 virgin cover, handed out only at the FF panel at SDCC. The main database sites I checked don't have it yet either. If your forum pic was the one submitted, it was rejected because it's not squared up, and not cropped. I tried to copy and fix it, but it's not squared up enough. nobody on e**y has a good pic at the moment either, neither did google images, but don't have all day to look. If you can get a better pic, without bag glare, or better to take it out and scan it (the bag doesn't matter! and no camera pics), crop it to the edges, .jpg format preferred, then you could resubmit it, if that function works for you, as it doesn't for many of us at the moment. https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/fantastic-four/22/pitwhst is where it would go when/if it gets added. that's all I can tell ya. edited by collectibleshop on 8/16/2024

I'm well aware that there are plenty of these on ebay as that's where I purchased this. But what is this "google" you're talking about?
I certainly know how to submit unrecorded variant covers as I have done that many times. I was hoping that I could get a definite answer. But, I guess I'll unbag it and know for sure.

ok, wasn't sure how new you were to the site. The Report Missing Variant button is missing for most of us anyway. Unbagging it is just for getting a good scan, and it shouldn't be kept in the bag for long term anyway. you can post a better pic if you get one, doesn't need to be huge (700px high is good), just cropped to the edges. As for which name it goes by, apparently people are using both Marvel Zero 2024 and FF 22 virgin and SDCC. I saw the back too, but GCD doesn't have it under either title, not does mycomicshop, leagueofcomicgeeks, etc. Maybe it's both, but since everyone is saying it's FF 22, I'm going with that. So maybe the indicia will get to the truth. post a pic of it if you can, thanks. edited by collectibleshop on 8/17/2024

I've used CPG since 2013 and have been a Gold member since 2016. I've recorded over 11,500 books in my account but I'm only just a level 4. I think that's because that even though I occasionally recommend price changes (most recently Fantastic Four #1, volume 7, J. Scott Campbell Anniversary Retro Variant) or cover additions I'm staying at a level 4 because I don't really buy or sell on the site and this is my first interaction in the forum. The level designation doesn't really matter much to me anyway.
I will most likely remove this from the bag tomorrow (Monday) and post the actual scan. I was hoping someone would have a definitive answer as to what it is without my having to do that but I guess someone has to be first.

ok, cool. I didn't go check your profile before. The level designations aren't really important as you say, and you only go up when you contribute X amount of info for the database more than other people, but you don't get much of any perks. It's harder to do now with so many bugs blocking some functions. So we'll await what you find in the indicia and hope an admin can get it added for you and any others who have it.

As an aside, you can probably scan it IN the bag if you want to. Just make sure it's squared up and cropped well. As long as the bag isn't bunched up or dirty, then it should make no difference as far as a cover scan goes. I say that as someone who's done that very thing a few times with both poly bags and mylars.

I went ahead and opened the polybag and much to my disappointment - but not surprise - this is indeed a Marvel Zero book. Being the variant cover Fantastic Four aficionado I like to think I am, I am unhappy that this is not a variant of #22. Oh well, now I and others know. And since it's not #22, I don't really care that it's opened.
I have a shot of the indicia but am unable to post it for some reason. I have to admit, using this forum has been an exercise in frustration. In addition to not being able to upload the photo, in order to reply I've had to log out and then re-log back in just to get the reply window up. I thank you for your help but I doubt I'll post here again. It's just too inconvenient.

well, sorry about that. but why does everyone list it as FF #22 then? do you own the regular FF 22? is it the same story inside as the Zero one? did the system give you a reason why you couldn't attach a pic of the indicia? or were you linking to it from somewhere else? the Attach image link for forum posts is invisible at the moment, but it's to the left of the Preview button at the bottom of the compose window. your cursor will find it, and it works when you click on it, and you can attach a pic then.

Here's my actual cover scan and the indicia. I was finally able to get these posted here (what a mess). I've submitted this as a variant of Marvel Zero. We shall see. Now that I've actually determined what this is, the fact that I opened it and there are marks on the cover, I'm glad it's not issue #22. I own all four covers of FF#22 and this is definitely NOT that issue.

so mystery solved. I wonder why all those e**y sellers call it FF 22 then? Guess none have opened them to look. Wonder if when they handed them out at SDCC they called them FF 22, so everyone's gone with that? Odd thing, this is. I straightened the pic a tiny bit and cropped the top edge a little bit, for CPG to use, and attached it. edited by collectibleshop on 8/21/2024

CPG has now listed this book as a variant for Fantastic Four #22 with my name as a contributor. I've contacted CPG to get the book to Marvel Zero.
