they're missing a few apparently. if you want to help out and do some of the work yourself, you can submit them using the 'Report Missing Variant' button under the Variants tab for each issue.
You can copy pics from comics.org, here's the start of that group in their pic gallery, https://www.comics.org/series/1482/covers/?page=7 , whitman ones are noted. click the pic to get the normal size ones and copy the whitman one. you can use the issue number dropdown on the issue page (top right area) and choose the next one, or just use the gallery page and open them from there. you can't use mycomicshop pics due the watermark.

then:
  • Navigate to the specific book that is missing a variant. https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/fantastic-four/179/xkyxo is 179.
  • Select the 'Variants' tab found next to 'Values'.
  • You should see a red box titled "Report Missing Variants" on the right side below any listed variants.
  • Clicking the box will bring up a page where you can upload the pic and enter information specific to the variant you are reporting (not all is required). Basically just note it's the Whitman variant and make sure if the price is the same or not. This makes it much faster for the admins to process the request.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply...This might be a larger issue that the higher up's have to weigh on...Maybe they did sometime ago or will again in the future. Looking at different price guides, CGC chat, google searches etc....Whitman books can be very collectible...In the case of Star Wars 2 Whitman you can see the price difference between Whitman with a barcode and without. It was not long ago that this Comicspriceguide.com did not list newstand vs direct....now I see some Canadian and Aussie price variants...Is this just another string that if pulled on unravels the sweater? Could be, but it would be nice to record what books you have in your collection. Going back to Star Wars 2 I also see that Whitman with a blank UPC box issue is not listed and also the issue that has the words "reprint"...so this could be a big job if they want to pursue this. Years to look for are 1977-1979 I believe but could be wrong...Even more confusing is DC also has these. If i'm wrong on anything its ok and no need to point it out as I'll take your word for it...thanks again.

CPG relies a great deal on its members to supply missing issues and images, as just keeping up with new issues and prices keeps them busy. They take pricing suggestions, with examples/links, too. Yes, they did start listing newsstand editions, but there's TONS of those to list, so that takes time to hunt down or add ones members submit. Last I heard they were adding the newsstands in alphabetical order by title, dunno how far they've gotten, and members have submitted all kinds of them too. So they're pursuing things as best they can, and will gladly take members submissions/help. You get ranking points for submissions too, not that it's much of a perk, but it gets you in 'better' standing for being a reliable submitter and helps speed up approval when you verify other's submissions. see this thread for more on that: https://comicspriceguide.com/forum/topic12862-approving-data-and-increasing-your-ranking.aspx

Whitman comics were not considered very collectible for decades since most if not all are reprints, but now people are going nuts for any variants, be it publisher, price, or cover art, so Whitmans have been riding that train too. They're probably rarer too, and harder to find in higher grade. If you have scans of missing ones, you can submit those either as 'missing image' if they have a listing with no pic (just click on Missing Scan where the image would be), or with the Report Missing Variant choice under the Variants tab on the regular issue listing if it's a missing variant of some kind.

here's the scoop on that: .jpg format preferred, cropped to the edges of the comic. If you can't scan/get a good camera pic, then find them on the net, with no watermarks, no signatures, no pro-graded ones, and try to make sure they're a published version, not a pre-production pic (like a Previews solicitation often is), as those get changed in production all the time. Best to resize them if you can to about 350-400px wide, but CPG can do that too. Use the "Report Missing Variant" function found in the listings for individual books. You must be logged in to do this.
  • Navigate to the specific book that is missing a variant.
  • Select the 'Variants' tab found next to 'Values'.
  • You should see a red box titled "Report Missing Variants" on the right side below any listed variants.
  • Clicking the box will bring up a page where you can upload the pic and enter information specific to the variant you are reporting (not all is required). This includes what it's called, price, artist, publication date, etc. This makes it much faster for the admins to process the request.

comics.org is s good place to get pics that are ready to go. they don't have all the newsstands or Whitmans either, but do have many. so if you add stuff CPG is missing, then you can add it to your collection here faster than waiting for CPG to find them. More people need to do this, as there's tons of issues that need adding, new to old, so it's a huge task. And ones with 'broken' pic links means they have the pic, it's just not connecting to the database.

Star Wars #2 2nd print w/blank UPC box is here: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/star-wars/2-2nd/uktynu
2nd print w/UPC barcode and reprint on cover: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/star-wars/2-2nd/rkwulu
3rd print: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/star-wars/2-3rd/tkyvix

hope that helps.

As the largest comic book price guide with 1.1 million comics, we receive thousands of variant requests each month. Those variants are sometimes Whitmans, Newsstand, Direct, different countries, and of course store issued variants. When we look at the number of requests each week, our staff cannot keep up with the sheer volume. We rely on super-knowledgeable admins to help with the variants and other tasks. Members can submit all types of variants or price changes and approve certain data.

There are no complete lists for any of these variants so we are forging that path. MyComicShop and Comics.org are working toward the same goal. With 300 to 400 new books each week, thousands of price changes, customer service requests, new scans, plus a thousand other things we are always busy.

Please feel free to submit a variant. Last week, I asked our admins to go through and approve as many variants as they could. We are down to 1126 variants that need to be approved. As Collectible said please use cropped quality images and good information, that is helpful.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you guys do. And a big thank you for all the help and friendly neighborhood approach to explaining when discussing topics. Also thanks for the help offered by other members as well...It's nice to see civility reign in times like these. I'll try to follow up on my end to follow the process and over time I should be able to help out a little once I find some time...great discussion. Add another well deserved cup of coffee to the list...you guys deserve it! smile
