A free membership gives you access to the catalog, price guide, hot books, blog posts, forum, buy/sell.
You can contribute by adding new books (via the forum), variants, cover prices, creators, barcodes.
Sure, you can't track your entire collection on here. Oh, and you don't get a forum pic.
But if those are the only things that matter to you, you've got some strange standards.

Can I ask why you think this? From our perspective, we think you get a lot for free.
You can look up and view the value, creators, variants, sales for all the books in the database. You can use our free app to scan in books. Unlike other services that are free like Facebook, Google we don't collect any data on you. We know only what you tell us. We don't use your data or sell it to a third party. You get the benefit of a free service without the cost to your privacy. We believe that is worth a lot.
If you choose to be a Gold member you can do all the stuff free people can plus
1. Get rid of ads on all pages except the front page
2. Track your entire collection, no matter how big
3. Know all the books rising and falling
4. Print your collection
5. Organize a want list
6. Add to virtual boxes
7. Add notes and what you paid per book
8. Sell your books commission-free
Plus many more...
I really do want to know your thoughts on this. If you don't feel comfortable saying it publicly you can email me or message me.

I came upon literally thousands of comics and was manually entering each one into a excel spreadsheet to keep track. This was taking a very long time as you can imagine until one day I started researching price guides, so I actually have SOME idea what something is worth rather than just refer to Ebay sold listings, and I found this site. They say you have to spend money to make money so I signed up for a month of Gold. I am blown away. Not only does this site do everything that Ronbatman added above, but you can save your collection to excel spreadsheets. This is a game changer for me and it is what helped make my decision to pay Annually.
