Seriously, this post contains spoilers! Don't read it if you haven't seen the movie yet! . . . . . . . .
In my opinion, the movie was terrible. I didn't mind watching it, but I have absolutely no intention of ever watching it again. It barely counted as a super hero movie. . . The plot was super weak and there were so many holes in. Honestly, it's tough to find a single redeeming feature of the film. . . The Intro: What was the point? - Child Diana found a creative solution to a problem (lost her horse so she took the slide). - Because she missed a gate, she was disqualified. She was told she cheated and cheating is the same as lying. - So the lesson is that you shouldn't find creative solutions to unexpected situations because it's equivalent to lying. . . The 80s: How do we know? - There were old cars parked on the streets. - Tube TVs. - Outfit change montage (fashion is fluid so this could have happened last week). - Cold War (we're kind of still at war with Russia, so this isn't definitive 80s). . . Wishes: Not consistent. - Wishes come at the cost of what you hold most dear (until Max becomes the wish stone, then he takes what he wants) - The thing you lose is gone right away (unless you're Diana. She sort of, kind of gets a little bit weaker throughout the entire movie but never loses her power completely). - Everyone only gets one wish (except Barbara. She gets two = be like Diana, then be an apex predator). . . Invisible Jet: Cool but pointless. - The jet is a nice call back to one of Wonder Woman's toys from the books. - Diana never learns to fly it. - Diana learns to bodily fly (sort of like Superman, sort of like Spider-Man using her lasso to grab onto things and swing) . . Golden Armor: Looks cool, but pointless. - Diana wears it only for a short period of time. - It had wings, but Diana already learned to fly without them. - It was supposed to be indestructible, but Barbara tore it to shreds in a matter of minutes. - Where did Diana find the armor? If it was supposed to be that powerful, why didn't Asteria hide it and keep it since she's still alive? . . What did Wonder Woman actually do? - Diana fought Barbara because Barbara wanted to keep her wish of being noticed in a good way for a change. - Diana used her lasso to broadcast a plea for everyone to give up their wish. -- Nobody gives up their wish until Max gives up his (because he all of a sudden remembers that he has a kid that he's partially responsible for). edited by glorkar on 12/28/2020
