Hi folks,
Need a little guidance here about cataloging and tracking two odd-ball comic acquisitions back from when I was regularly collecting action figures in the mid 1990s. I have two box sets that make up the Fatal Attractions story line, each sold as a Marvel Spotlight Collector's Pack. They were bought from Toys R Us but do not seem to be an exclusive. I see them for sale on eBay but not in any of the usual suspect comic databases, including CPG. Here are some details:
- Box 1, UPC 759606361021, list price $11.40, contains parts 1 - 3 (X-Factor #92, X-Force #25, Uncanny X-Men #304)
- Box 2, UPC 759606366026, list price $11.85, contains parts 4 - 6 (X-Men #25, Wolverine #75, Excalibur #71)
Are there CPG entries for these boxes? Should there be? Are they variants of some sort? Do I just deal with them outside the norm as one-offs? Inquiring minds want to know!
Thanks for any info you can spill, Stephan

I remember those packs and a bajillion others like them. They're just the regular issues packaged in sets months after release for TRU and various other outlets. Some were 'exclusive' to TRU I think, but only due to them being in the packs, the individual comics were just the regular versions, sometimes 2nd prints too. I believe I also bought some of those Fatal Attraction packs for resale as singles too.
You should be able to google this and find all kinds of info/blogs about them, like ' "toys r us" "fatal attractions" pack ' or Marvel Spotlight Collector's Pack Fatal Attractions, etc.. I found this info from a old seller's auction off another valuation site searching ' "toys r us" "fatal attractions" pack' :
Marvel had once entertained the idea to package certain popular comic titles and sell them thru mass outlets like Toys R Us in factory sealed box sets. In fact, they did produce the sets for sale and distribution when Comic shop retailers, when told they could not get re-orders on titles like the Miller Daredevil set of 1-6, the Gambit series 1-4, the Marvels (Ross) series 1-4 , the X-men Fatal Attractions set 1-6 etc. , threatened to burn down the House of Marvel. Marvel had told the Industry that the titles were sold out when in fact they had been diverted and packaged in fancy box sets from the first printing run. Some retailers were told that their orders were allocated. X-Men Fatal attractions was originally sold as single issues of the various X-Men titles and also packaged by Marvel into 2 sets they called The Marvel Milestones Collectors Pack, Set 1 (parts 1-3) and set 2 (parts 4-6) .
they show pics of both named packs, Collectors and Milestones. 1st google search result for ' "toys r us" "fatal attractions" pack' with the double quotes for TRU and fatal attractions.
no results here for Marvel Spotlight Collector's or Milestones Pack, dunno other ways they may have listed them, but nothing under Fatal Attractions either. I'm sure Ron or someone can add to this, but google should be able to answer your question too. I'll add the usual tree-fiddy research fee to your tab edited by collectibleshop on 8/3/2020

23 hours, 20 views and one response from the highly-esteemed collectibleshop later -
I will roll up my sleeves and dig in for more info from the interwebs but treat these packs as packs, not single issues. All subject to change if other learned ones chime in later.
CS - you da man and thank you. In addition to up-voting your prompt response, I will also be sending you a no-prize once breathed upon by Stan Lee himself. That's got to be worth at least the tree-fiddy I owe you. (insert smiley face here).

Sold! I'll await for it to not-come via no-mail.
You know you can insert a real smiley face with the menu bar atop the posting field, right?
