I found a Bartman #1 in a $1 box at my Local shop. There are 2 Variants list on this site.

Visually, mine looks like the 2nd one with the silver tank bubbling Liquid. Did it has the "Pull out poster" from the 1st, which has a darker Liquid in the pool.
To be more specific with what mine looks like, the liquid is Glossy and Reflective, and much thickers than the rest of the front page. Could the reason the first link has a Black Liquid in picture, because the scanner didn't handle the reflective silver correctly?

The differences in those books are this.
1. Newsstand $1.95 vs Direct $2.95 (no UPC during that timeframe)
2. The Direct version has a silver foil and the Newsstand has silver coloring.
3. The Direct Version has a poster and the Newsstand does not.
You are correct that the scanner didn't handle the reflective surface very well. I'll replace that scan so that it's more obvious.
