Hey all,
I am new to collecting and have really enjoyed reading some of the forum posts. I however have not found much on how to get comic books professionally graded and sealed in the plastic cases. I currently only have one book (Star Wars #1) that I want to have graded, but I really have not idea how to go about getting this done. I went to CGS website and did not understand the process, or pricing which would be best for me. Do comic book shops send them out for you and charge you a certain rate, or do I have to sign up for an account and do it myself? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!

some comic shops can send them out and the price depends on how fast you want it back. check the other grading companies too.

Your two best options for professionally graded are CGC and CBCS. You do not have to be a member to send books to them however if you do purchase a membership you can receive better pricing and "coupons" for free grading or services which often equal the price of the membership.

The process is generally choose the books you would like to send in (you will want to carefully evaluate which books those are because not all books are worth sending in). Fill out the submission forms. Carefully pack the books up and ship them to the facility. You are usually charge when they receive the books. Then wait. That wait can be as little as a few days for the most expensive book or the most expensive services to weeks/months.

Both CGC and CBCS have websites that can answer many of your questions as well as forums and contact information should you have more.
