For EC fans, here are the FBI files on William Gaines. He was under investigation for sedition:

Very nice! It's such a great cover. I've gotten a few more since my last post (Haunt of Fear #19, Haunt of Fear #5) and still have a few more on the way.

My favorite series are the sci-fi titles, Crime Suspenstories, and Shock Suspenstories.

EC comics were prophetic at times.

I've really been into Marvel's bronze age horror revival the past few years and since then I found public domain horror over at Comic Book Plus ( http://comicbookplus.com/?cbplus=horror ) which is pretty awesome- ads and all. Are there any EC books someone can recommend for me to try and hunt down as a primer?

It really depends upon what you like. Horror? Sci-fi? Crime? War?

Some people say War comics are their favorite. Some Say Tales From the Crypt. Some say Sci-fi. I know people who only like Mad.

My favorite series is Shock Suspenstories followed by Crime Suspenstories. Those are usually more affordable. Maybe if I owned more sci-fi, it'd be my favorite.

The reprints are a cheap way to get started to read the stories. To appreciate the art, there is no comparison to an original. I buy originals for that reason. It's especially true for Wally Wood art and Al Williamson.

I'd say find the genre that interests you and go with that..

I'm big into horror at the moment so I'll see what titles they have.

I have the first three haunt of fear reprints from gemstone, I'd buy the rest if they popped up for sale at the lcs. most of the ghostly/horror stuff is pretty well scavenged already. definitely a fun read.
