EEIG-means each and every comic is graded
you do the grading
need not be a pro-
just a reasonable guess
it says-I am not using the 9.4
the * is if you add the number of issues you own smile

I think Ruk's collection value is going up because he's secretly buying new variants (and loving it). He's been too ashamed to admit it for fear of being kicked out of the cool club.

Dear Casper (*EEIG)
as Rixmaxx (*EEIG) so clearly explained the * and the EEIG-I will say no more on that subject-it is fully clarified.
Welcome-you enter at a respectable Position #80
many have tried to get that high-so be happy with this starting Position
As for PThomas (*EEIG) -i can only remark that hiding away in the Great White North I have bought zero since March 11th.
My total is moving as the powers that be --where ever they are--- decided --to finally move up Dell-Four Color-
we spell it colour-
and I am sitting with a ton of Dell.

An observation from my time here (not that I'm going anywhere);
I started participating in this thread maybe 5 years ago, and I hadn't cracked $100,000 yet. That first 100,000 seemed like it would never happen, but I eventually crossed that threshold. It took at least 5 years from when I started from scratch in 2010 to do it. But I reached $200,000 relatively quickly in comparison, and before I knew it, I was approaching 300,000. I sit at $322,000 currently, and it seems like I'm inching along again. The thing is, my buying habits haven't really changed since the beginning. As a matter of fact, the pure volume of what I buy now is only a fraction of how many comics I used to buy weekly. I've owned and bought big key comics throughout, and I don't have any 20,000 single issues that would inflate monthly totals. I think I've figured out why, and I think it's good news for others who care about such things; Whoever enters value changes for the site got serious about it a few years ago. My most prized comics (my complete ASM and Avengers runs and big chunks of most Marvel titles) were mostly purchased during the first 5 years of my collecting. Early ASM were among the first batches of updated values, and all the key Sliver Age Marvel issues were eventually updated, too. I made huge gains simply by owning most of those books. The updates to DC titles and the Golden Age comics they've been updating lately have relatively little effect on my collection value, because I don't have many Golden Age books at all, and DC Silver Age and later comics are either staying the same or barely increasing. Most of my non-key issue of Batman actually went down recently. But overall, I think we're in this hobby at a good time. Who says we are in some type of bubble that's destined to pop? Who knows where the ceiling is? Old time collectors will point to the collapse in the 1990's as evidence, but it was the publishers who got greedy and caused it. Instead of limiting production, they ramped it up, knowing all along that many copies were going to investors by the case, never to be opened until time to sell. It didn't take the investors long to figure out that if there were 1 million other mint copies of their "collectors items", they weren't going to be valuable. So they went away. The publishers sure didn't slow down, though. It's a totally different market today. The publishers print conservatively, and if an issue sells out while there is still demand, they make additional printings. Whatever happens to the publishers in the upcoming months or years won't be as a result of overproducing again. The back issue market is stronger than it's ever been. If you don't believe me, try purchasing any major key comic from Golden to Bronze Age in FN or above. They're all up. People are buying them, though. The sheer number of Modern comics fetching $1,000 or more is mind boggling, but there are buyers fighting to get them on auction. I don't know who these people are, but apparently there is no shortage of people willing to spend 1,000 - 2,000 on a graded 9.8 modern comic. But just because I don't understand that way of collecting doesn't mean it is wrong or temporary. People have predicted the demise of comics since I found the CBR message boards in 2010. The naysayers tell us it's just around the corner. In all that time, prices have only risen. Nobody can guarantee when or even if it will fall. I refuse to be pessimistic, and I encourage other participants here to follow suit. We need more positive people in this hobby.

Dear Guest.
Why not add your totals in?Bump
I live in a far away place-
have no idea who is writing (although over the last 13 years some folks have dropped by)
so add you name and total value.
Maybe you will get a *
As for your thought-I believe in the Golden Age comics-most are scarce-some are rare.
Whether they go up in value is cute but I just want to have them
I am Very old and they bring back wonderful memories as I collect them.Duhh
But hey collect anything you want.
I also collect stamps and felt Mint stamps -unhinged were silly.
Now years later they go for astonishing amounts-who knew?
And so for 9.8 -I agree it is silly seeing the volume but like my love for used stamps-who knows?
So do you thing.
Time will tell.
I thank whoever runs this site that they are FINALLY running up the Dell-Four color(colour?)
Maybe they will review Fawcett next?
and thanks for writing.
Its lonely up North-----------

Re-reading again I think only PThomas(*EEIG) cd be the writer.
and a great read it is -but why not come in the FRont door as a Position #13?
Instead of the back?
Editor's note-Ruk returns--writes a few words ---and quickly vacates.

First time I've been back since my long post. It took me a while to do that one because I wanted to get the words right, and I guess it signed me out. That's happened to me several times since the forums were brought back to life. It's a pain, but still better than an entire forum that doesn't function at all.

PS-it is really nice that this site is so interactive-
as prices move they move up prices on site.
I feel they are a bit behind in the Golden age but still it is a pleasure to see comics move up in value.
I collect other stuff -(there is life beside comics)
-but it is hard to find a simple site that tracks the movement in other collectibles.
So whoever is out there ---from the Cold North -thanks.Party
