It's an interesting challenge. 48 is the only key I've managed so far. And I seem to find the sub 100s for better deals than I do the 100s lol.

I got my run of 150-199 as a bulk purchase, so I don't know if it was always harder to find stuff in that range. I think it was the 140's range where I finished up my run myself (aside from the $.35 variants and one of the Toybiz issues).

I'm still trying to decide if I want to do news stand/direct variant runs or just first come first serve. Price variants is another thing I haven't thought about either....more to think on.

I had considered that as well, but putting aside from the space considerations, I was looking at those diamond 'whitman' variants from the 180-190s, as well as the newsstand and Canadian price versions from around the Byrne era. Then I found out about the UK versions with the different banner and decided to limit it only to the test market price variants (just for the challenge). It was too much.

Got my first graded books from CGC, 1 not bad, 1 terrible... lol. FF 56 came back 7.5 which isn't too bad, and Thor 193 which came back at 5.5....blech. Somehow i missed the staining on the bottom....oh well.

I just bought the Serenity "Leaf on the wind" gn. Pretty sizeable book and hardcover, on Amazon for 12 bucks with prime shipping. So far it's really nice, great art and the story picks up right where the movie ended!

Got bored at lunch and went to the LCS. Picked up the new DD/Punisher. Art looks fantastic! and the story (what I read briefly was well done also).

First books sent to CGC, is this something you plan to do more often, submitting more books? Fantastic Four 56 grade is nice.

I have a couple I'd like to do but the shipping is a bit prohibitive. The grading aspect is nice. The secure storage is nicer. I guess if I want to resell, a definitive grade will make a sale easier. I've got a really nice Silver Surver 14(with spider man) that I estimate at 9.2. I'd like to get it graded. 30 bucks a book plus base 30 shipping is scary though.

Congrats on the Silver Surfer books. And yep shipping is steep by CGC. I guess weighing the benefit of having a book graded by them and the possible final price you might get by selling the graded book has to by thought out to say, yes, even with the shipping costs I'd still make a good amount of money. I agree with you, $30 to grade and another $30 to ship is a large sum for one book. I'd think twice too.

Been adding a few back issues to fill in some holes in my FF run.
Fantastic Four 24, 32, 35(higher grade replacement), 57, 67, 97, 111(filler), 118, 196.
I also picked up a better copy of Silver Surfer #4. My first copy of this book is completely coverless. The new one has a nice front cover attached, missing back cover. I may get a complete copy one day lol.

I was just keeping a what I had list, but that made it hard to quickly find what i need. So I made a need list, makes completion a bit less daunting except for the last entry:
588-611 586 583 562-580 544 537 521-532 505-518 493-496 (64-67 vol.3) 478-487 (49-58 vol.3) 475-476 (46-47 vol.3) 472-473 (43-44 vol.3) 445-470 (16-41 vol.3) 443 (14 vol.3) 437-440 (8-11 vol.3) 430-435 (1-6 vol.3) 417-429 (1-13 vol.2) 409-413 407 395 317 318 320 216 214 189 178 161 157 154 146 145 143 141 139 138 136 135 133-126 122-119 117-114 112 109-106 104 102 99-98 89-88 73 69-68 64 56-49 47 45 41 39 36 34 31-30 28-25 23 21-1
that 21-1 will be a long time.

So i bought a pile of "60s and 70s" comics on ebay. Nestled in them was a FF 67, rest of the stuff was pretty much meh. I was stoked, until it arrived.... Open it up and check indicia, 196*....YES!! Then i look at the ad on the back of the cover, some bic pen, tm 1994......and burn. Oh well, added 67 back to my list of need.

Hopefully the lot wasn't too expensive for you. Also I'm with you on one of your recent posts about making a list of issues you need instead of what you have already. It works much easier that way for me with my Batman collection needs.

Wicked cool cover. edited by kds_comics on 6/17/2016

I think I paid about 20 for the lot, so no big loss, just hit me in the feels. Decent books I can flip out.

KDS didn't you just post how you were mad that your collection was growing lol. I actually had another 63, i just traded about 50 books into the LCS here for store credit.
In other news, I just filled in about 100 more back issues in the ff series. Got to love $1 and under boxes at conventions. I had a blast at the Heroes Con in Charlotte today. Got to meet Brian Stelfreeze (Black Panther) and Stacy Lee (Silk, Spidergwen, etc), and Freddie Williams (Batman/TMNT). Got a few things signed, and sent in a few things to CGC(they had a booth there and were verifying sigs.)
Forgot to mention I got some comiccon exclusives too. Zenoscope had a booth and I picked up there convention issue, Print run of 350. And I got Secret Wars 1 HeroesCon edition with a cool new spider outfit, and DK III #1 color and sketch variant for con. I'll post pics later. edited by gregbrookins on 6/18/2016
