It's been a while since I popped my head in here (I was off in Afghanistan for a year) but wow....this place is a ghost town- even more so than before and I'm a late comer. I'm sure we lost folks who will never come back but it would be nice to see it back to the pre-crash days.

After The Great Forum Crash, I got busy with a lot of other stuff in life, devoting more time to other things that posting here didn't allow for, and didn't check back on the forums for a long time. (I still used the Guide and MyCollection during that time.) I just came back onto the forums very recently to all the new changes.
About the Forums: I'd love to see a feature where you can view your most recent posts. A "Now where WAS I at?" thing so you can quickly see if people answered responded to your posts.
About the Guide: I'd LOVE to see a more frequently updated "Recent Value Changes" and "Comics To Watch", and longer lists of both.

I kinda liked the old point system too. Not that anyone was going to catch up to Ox but it was fun

Well until Tex started not posting regularly on the old forum noone would have been able to keep up with him. I was just lucky to be able to post and visit regularly. BTW if you thought my number were impressive you should have seen some of the post counts over at the CGC forums. Some of those guys were in the 20-50K post counts. That would have been huge in the point on the old CPG forum. You got something like two point for just posting a comment/response. edited by Oxbladder on 12/5/2016

This must be my first response to a post in a couple of years. I'm still here, however Im devoting my time to entering issue info into the database. Its become an obsession. Maybe I have too much time on my hands, maybe its the aspergers but I'm having a blast. The Mad Magazine data never looked so good. But Im not done yet....

We're a small team. We were just as crushed as you guys by the data loss and it's an unfortunate lesson we continue to pay for and learn from. We could definitely use some help getting the community active again and if you're passionate about bringing it back, please consider applying to be an admin or a moderator here.
I will be reaching out to all applicants this week to begin structuring our team and making a path forward.

I think of this as the Christmas equivalent of Scrooge raising rents on drafty houses with no capital improvement. To use a second allegory, the comic publishers have been relocated to "Pottersville".
'nuff said.

I've done just that and applied a few days ago. Can't wait to hear back.

I don't like the new board software or category arrangements. I used to submit scans and missing issue information but the delays were too long. I'm not going to waste my time if they can't keep up. Price updates were lagging behind too. I think the site needs to publish hard copies of their price info so they have an income stream and tool to attract new user to the site that want to contribute. I'm posting now because I'm on a 2-1/2 week vacation. Chances are that I won't be back for awhile one I start back into the crunch at work.

I was able to make 2 posts without a crash today.
The old forum was better, this one is slow and burdensome.

I logged in the other day and 2 minutes later it was telling me I needed to log in again. Strange.

Login getting cleared is a security thing. Doing your browers setings wrong can do that. But in this case, I'd suspect the site was misbehaving.

It's been fine before. Today the whole site is slow and popping up errors everywhere.

What kind of errors? What's the message you're seeing?

It initially told me that my login didn't take. It was going real slow. I tried again. Nothing happened and no confirmation. I tried a third time and it told me I was already logged in. I opened another window and tried other sites. They were working fine without any delays. Then I started searching and I got several weird errors, but I don't remember exactly what they were. Everything was working at a snails pace.

This site was initially built in the 90s, and coding has changed a lot since then. While we've done a lot of updates to the engine and the heart of the site, at the end of the day the framework is super old and definitely leading to some performance problems.
That's why our new launch will be more or less a fresh start with newer tech and coding standards, and we hope it will limit some performance issues like this

I was probably using the site the first year it started. I understand what a huge task it is and I empathize. From an end user point, it simply has to work. If I search and it doesn't work then all your coding might as well be the most complicated and expensive 404 error page ever designed.
