Depending on the rarity and age of the comic, (older and rarer, less effect) cream pages would normally drop a comic a full grade lower.

Hello, all -

I have a collection of some 1700 or so DC comics, mostly from the late 60's through mid-80s. They have been in cardboard boxes until now, but these boxes haven't been opened for probably 30 years.

I decided it was time to catalog them and perhaps see what they were worth. I wasn't sure what I'd discover in terms of their condition. Happily, I found that time and storage hadn't done much more than turn the inside pages to a cream color. (But not brittle.)

I have just discovered this site and find the price guide rating system interesting to navigate through. I'm interested in hearing some thoughts on how everyone might feel about the following to see if I'm on the right track:

I've felt the cover condition is the most important aspect. But recognizing that interior page discoloration is also a factor, I have not given any of my comics better than Near Mint +. In other words, a perfect cover with no folds, missing areas, wrinkle marks on the spine, spine roll, surface wear, etc. that looks brand new, I would give a Near Mint + rating to.

Is this sensible? Or am I undervaluing or overvaluing the effect the interior page color has?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Matt
