I've entered my entire collection into CPG and posted an announcement that my entire collection is for sale but is there a way to list the entire collection for sale without going title by title/issue by issue? Sorry if I missed it but it seems massively time consuming if I was going to do that for a 1300+ book collection. Thanks for any helpful replies, I appreciate it! GC

I hope you all aren't thinking, "Oh no, not another one," but my father-in-law passed down a Universal-rated 7.5 X-men issue #1 (he bought it as a kid, believe it or not). I loved the X-Men as a kid and still rock all things Marvel, but I don't want just to let it sit in a safe. I was contemplating selling it. After some research, I think I have an idea of fair market value, but I was looking for honest opinions on where to sell and for how much. Any help would be appreciated, and you would have my gratitude.

I can upload photos for proof if necessary, but I do have it, and it is real.

- Murphy
edited by BoxerT879 on 11/27/2023

You'd be amazed what some of the old walt disney stuff and other 50's oddballs go for... like dagwood and classics illustrated and the lone ranger and promo comics from stores... and so on...
To sell on the site you would need to be a paying member. That is the only fees we have related to selling. Thus we don't get involved in the financial transaction, we connect the two parties involved. Here are our training videos, one is on selling. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3eOHtGDGIs0GGohUDuypf3TlQM2aupdo

Some sellers have listed books on eBay and ComicsPriceGuide but you need to be diligent. If a book is sold, it should never be here.

In the auction forum you can put a link to your auctions.

We don't have a way to replicate your ebay listings here but you can enter books for sale faster here than on eBay. There are sellers who only sell here and make a living because of our no fee policy. (that is always subject to change but it's been in place for years)
Ron

Hi,

We are selling a ton of comic books. Rare ones. Vintage ones. Hard to find ones. Bulk lots, you name it we're selling it. We've been doing this on ebay, through fixed price and also auction listings. We basically use CPG as a means for determining price range, though we do research other guides, gocollect for example, and we reference ebay sold listings as well. We also assess the market based upon new films coming out, tv shows or general comic books buzz. We watch a lot of Youtube on the comic book marketplace, etc....

How do we sell on this site?

Is it okay to reference and list our ebay store as the place where the transaction actually takes place? Even to post URL links, etc to our ebay store? Or is that a no no, for the rules of this site?

Does this site handle any of the financial transactions between members? Or is it simply a forum for communication between members?

If we list a rare book, for example Batman 251 on ebay, if we list it for sale here on CPG are we listing it in two different places and confusion could occur with people thinking we have 2 copies? Do you know what we mean, we don't want to inadvertently sell the same book twice!

So we're trying to get our heads around how to use CPG as another means to drive our sales up. But not sure how to do that, and what we're allowed to do exactly without violating CPG's rules.

Also, how would we keep our ebay inventory in sync with the items we post on CPG as for sale? Would this be a strictly manual process? Or is there some slick way to like upload an Excel, and mass delete listings if needed, etc..?

Thanks for your help, we know this is probably a lot of questions. Wasn't sure where to inquire about these things.

Cheers,

Jacky Faber

Comicbookman916, If you are a paying member you can sell here with no other fees. That is the best deal in the comic book world.
Here is a video that will walk you through it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFUmGlqrKWY

If you want to sell your entire collection go to this link and Quality comics will make you an offer on what they are interested in.
https://comicspriceguide.com/sendoff

Blooms,
On the site, you can see raw and graded prices. Let me show you an example of the best practices for whether you should grade or not. Look at Tomb of Dracula 1
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/tomb-of-dracula/1/pipy
Click on the Values tab.
Notice that the graded price is always higher for this specific book but you need to consider the grading costs as well. For CBCS the grading cost for this book is $40 so everything above a 2.5 is worth grading. On another book the lowest grade that you should send off could be dramatically different.
Look at Tomb of Dracula 60 which has no first appearances or special things about it.
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/tomb-of-dracula/60/wbxrb
For this book, everything below a 4.0 is the same value with raw or graded. Since it's a newer book the cost of grading is $24 it's not worth grading with anything below a 9.0.
I hope this helps,
Ron

Hi

Great Site

I have a childhood set of comics from the late 60's and early 70's, many that appear valuable although a lot not in the #1 9/10.0 shape, some with pencil marks on the covers. They had been packed away for years, then around 2000 I packed them all in plastic. I had been the only reader.

If you guys can I need some quick advice. I need to sell these now and was wondering what is the absolute best way to accomplish this? Should I take them to a dealer, send a list to Storage Wars star Rene Nezhoda (he said he would take a look), or try to list them here, or elsewhere?

Thank You for your help

If they are in-demand key comics and the values seem to be a lot higher if they are slabbed then yes, it's worth it if all you want to do is sell them. If it's for you to keep, it's entirely up to you if you want them slabbed or just put them in something safe for display/storage.

Other ways to get an idea of value could be:
1) Got to Mycomicshop (https://www.mycomicshop.com/) and search for the issue, see what they are selling it for.
2) You can go to eBay, search for those issues, and then check the "Sold Items" box near the bottom left column to see what they are selling for on eBay as well.
edited by ronbatman on 11/8/2021

Examine your comics for any damage, folds, spine creases, color loss, tears, blunt corners. Try to determine the condition. Every single flaw or imperfection affects the grade.
2. After you've determined the grade look at the guide and see what the raw value is. Provide price to buyer.

Shipping packaging and pricing options can be confusing at first - a little research on US Post Office website and questions in person - you will figure it out. This make take a few times of trial and error - but you have to figure out what works. Check what people are shipping for on eBay. This is a clue as to your total cost of shipping for a similar item.

How do I know what shipping will be upfront? If the seller asks for an exorbitant shipping price, can I cancel, and will it impact my ratings at all? Also, if I pay and never receive the item, what sort of recourse do I have? Thanks in advance. (PS...I watched the tutorials and see nothing that explains my questions)

This is where to start.

When you are comfortable enough using CPG it is fairly easy to look up comics and titles. Remember in the search engine the less you put in the more results you will likely get.

My opinion is you just have to dig in and learn along the way!

KDS

I'm an eBay seller dealing in varied merchandise. I just bought a lot of about 75 comics for purposes of reselling. I know very little about collecting comics, despite the fact that some names you'd know are (were) personal friends of mine! I've made a list and guestimated raw pricing based on your price guide. Most are under $4 but a few are valuable. I'd prefer not to do all the work of entering these into your database and then listing them for sale, since I'm already going to list on eBay. Is there a simple way to just upload a PDF file of the list I have for interested parties to peruse? I'm fine with buying a 1 or 2-month membership, but after that, I'm not going to make my investment back. Thanks!

So if you've got a bunch of comics, and most are forgettable at best, do you still compile the entire list when sending them off to someone to purchase? Or do you show a 'sampling'? Most of these sites ask for an excel file with the comics sorted by character and then list issue numbers...I'm wondering if I should really include all 87 issues of Groo in there with my Adventure Into Fear...hahahaha! Any advice is appreciated!

He's the inker, but there are no large number of people collecting his autograph. Autographs can be forged, so the comic is likely worth less than if it had no writing on the cover.

Defiant1
edited by Defiant1 on 2/26/2017

What I do not understand is there are dates like Dec. 7 1963 on the front cover and it also has Not For Sale in the bottom right hand corner and on the back of the book there is an ad for direct tv with some dates stating dates of 10/2006 to 2/2007 Can anyone tell me what I have ?
