Atxmike512 wrote:

Hi guys like many I am new here not only to your site but the comic world as well. I have several comics those of which have been signed and I was wondering how to appraise these. For instance I have Amazing Spider-man #607 (Bar code error for Sensational Spider-man) signed by Campbell. The comic is in perfect condition, in fact the pages have not yet been opened...so it is in mint condition. Alone according to your website an unsigned issue seems to have a raw value of around $200 with a graded value considerably higher. I guess this leads me to two questions, 1: what is the estimated value of my signed error copy? 2: would it be wise to get this comic graded obviously for its worth and more so because it is a signed copy? In other words having a signed copy of any issue whether it be a first issue in series, an error, or just a signed copy, is it always wise to grade those? Reason I'm asking is I have several signed issues, not only of Amazing Spider-man. I would appreciate any help or advice!! Thanks in advance!
Mike

just a heads up it is not a barcode error it is most likely a newsstand edition. if you get a chance read

Comic Book Newsstand Editions: Understanding The Difference | Rare Comics (wordpress.com)

So, if you think it's in mint condition (9.8 or so), then you absolutely should get it graded. If I were you I'd use CBCS and do their signature verification service.

CGC will not recognize a signature that they did not witness, and the writing on your book will actually cause the grade to either go down as a defect, or you'd get a green "qualified" label. Either can be a problem if what you want to do is sell.

As far as value goes, I usually estimate about a 10-20% increase in value for a signature. Depends on the person who signed, how hard their sigs are to get, etc...
