Giant size, 100-page, 80-page issues can be pressed but they require special treatment so that the spine isn't crushed. It's a slower process for those issues because you need to be very careful.
Ron

Is a glue binding a good candidate for cleaning and pressing, Ron?

That "9.0" could look a lot better if it were cleaner. The chips will be there, still, but I wonder if pressing might exacerbate the glue messiness I think I see on the white in the back?

When they surface in high grade, I see them selling for high prices.

Yeah those glue bindings from the mid 1970's are really difficult to keep nice. Spine roll is really difficult and the 'wear factor' is very high on the glue binding, on top of the original state not being super accurate to begin with. The staple bindings had a higher degree of accuracy than the glue bindings, it seems to me.

I just picked up a 9.4 Batman Family #6 (with Duella Dent, aka (at that time) The Joker's Daughter) and it was not cheap. But I had one as a kid and thought it'd be nice to have a really good copy now, so....

Well, almost all grading is subjective. The seller may or may not have overgraded, but the buyer paid for it as a 9.0, regardless.

Thank you for the new link and your insight.

I do agree with you.

Before COVID, I was attending maybe a dozen shows a year, attempting to complete better grade runs. So I go thru every dealers wall and boxes for higher grade books.

100 pagers are getting harder and harder to find in better grade. When they surface in high grade, I see them selling for high prices. I don't monitor or record data. This is just a hobby.

However after looking at pictures of the book in the last link, it seems the seller has over graded it. So the sell price is for a book in lower grade than listed.

Thanks again for sharing. Our hobby is a lot of fun.

Based on recent sales the highest raw book sold for $40 so we are a little under. I've updated it. All it takes is one YouTube personality to shine a light on this book and it will be worth triple.

Overstreet is crazy high at $145 for that book.

As a premium member, you can submit value suggestions through the site. That is the best way to ask for a change.
Ron

While Ebay is far from the be all for pricing, it is an indicator. By that indicator I don't think $145 for a 9.2 is a reasonable assumption.
