No time line for value to go up (maybe like 20-30 years from now, this is just for me to pass down)
For more details, i'm looking at getting some silver and bronze age comics (first appearances and #1 issues). Obviously higher grade and white pages is the grail
Thanks All and look forward to your answers

Grading comics is a "look at the whole thing" thing - you need to look at all factors as a whole. The bottom line - ask yourself- if I went to a retailer and they had this comics - what grade would it have for me to be happy to purchase it.

If you are never going to crack the case, shouldn’t you just stick with the higher grade is money allows. Or whichever has a better presentation since it will not be opened.

Cream pages and worse indicate that the paper is starting to deteriorate. It's a clue that the book wasn't stored properly at some time in it's life.

Short story -
I once looked at a collection from someone who didn't know anything about comics, he just liked the cover art. He didn't bag or board his books. In fact, he stored them in a garage attic with no heating and cooling. (in Indiana) I started thumbing through the piles of books and some of them were brittle and started breaking apart. It was horribly sad because he had Batman 11 - 500! The paper was destroyed from the summer heat and winter cold. So, even though I desperately wanted the books, I passed on them. I was afraid that they would break into little pieces on the short ride home.
Ron
