This is a case where it would be worth getting the comic restored. This is assuming the restored book could grade in the 6.0 range.

Currently it would grade at 1.5 at best - about $100. (Plus it is incredibly hard to sell in this condition !!!) If it was 6.0 it would be $500. Graded 6.0 would be $855.
If it was graded - even with "restoration" label - (discounting for restoration) - price would be some where between $500 and $855.

This is what I would do - you are welcome to choose your own path.

KDS
edited by kds_comics on 3/5/2019

go to CGC's or CBCS's website and email them the pic. my guess is that it would get a low grade due to detached covers, assuming the covers are fully detached like it looks. whether they recognize it as a pedigree or not (unless they have already?) may make little difference in value unless someone is a die-hard Woolfolk fan. it would have been better to leave it bound, based on forum threads on the cgc boards, but too late now. do a search for 'bound volume' and cgc, and read the various forum threads from that, or join the boards and do searches there if you want.
edited by collectibleshop on 3/4/2019

This book was owned by William Woolfolk. It was bound and hand stitched with others in hardback book format. And about ten years ago removed by a professional library bing company. Ninety-nine percent of the book cover is pristine. The spine is all but completely destroyed. Any thoughts on how to grade this? Oh. The interior pages are a bit yellow. Oh Oh. Does the "pedigree" affect the grade? Much obliged for any answers.
edited by wberta on 3/4/2019
edited by wberta on 3/4/2019
