Although I am still trying to figure out what's with this "Biff" name. Best laugh I had today.

https://comicspriceguide.com/forum/topic12484-biff-thundersaur-signed-black-and-white.aspx

KDS

There isn't a button that you can hit to request research but if you send me an email ron@comicspriceguide.com I will look at each book. Pricing isn't my primary job but our philosophy is that it's everyone's job to help with pricing. It's the most important part of the site no matter how much I enjoy writing blog posts.

I actually have a number of variants in my collection think are priced too high haha

Yes and No, As a developer yes it would be possible but not practical. You would have to aggregate all that data on a daily basis for over 1 million issues, archive this into historical data and run calculations on that data at the time of request. The resources needed to do this would not be feasible for a small company/website. You would need an enterprise level data center and probably have to pay for / license that kind of data access.

So this topic brings quite a few questions to mind for me but, I'll focus on this one: Is there in this modern age of fantastic computing and amazing information at our fingertips a program or algorithm that can be used (or may already be in use) to look at all of these factors and compile a more accurate and perhaps real time floating price?

In other words, Can one look at all the info on a specific issue and see a historical value/ a current value and highest realized price for said issue all in one place/site /guide?

If I look at batman #655 on the guide $20 (9.4) ebay from $19.99 to $49.99+ just in completed listings and CBR $20.00 but Mycomicshop has it for $32.00 (8.0) so I'm sure there's some mark up there for the retail side but what would you say to some one one the street if they came up to you and asked how much is my batman #655 worth?

Ebay to me paints a very clear picture of what has been paid. No doubt there but how much of that is a speculative trend and how much is it just plain luck?

oh well I'll stop there to stop wasting time. I could be reading a comic right now....... If only I had a batman 655.......

We know that people use other sites to check our prices. Heritage, Ebay, ComicLink, Mycomicshop.com are all viable options. Going to Realms is awful though. So many ads on his site and so much thievery of our site.

ALWAYS check more than one guide / sales sites.
I like MyComicShop.com and Comic Book Realms. (guide)

As Ron noted - different sites use different data. My Comic Shop is retail sales "offer" not a guide, but prices can be significantly higher or lower due to consignments, etc.
Hey - on a $4 comic - $2 is statistically significant - regardless of condition.

I find CPG is VERY CONSERVATIVE. - my opinion is...that is a good thing - but it is possible you can ask more and get it.

Good luck -
KDS

I am not sure what database or comic to which you are referring but different sites have different algorithm based on different data. Most of the time it is based on either ebay sales data or internal site sales data. Would be nice to know what they base the value on if they inflate it to drive user-ship. If you wish to have an over inflated unrealistic collection worth then you may want to go to the other database.

When I say sales data I mean actual sold items not the average of what unsold items. I can flood the auction sites with an item with an inflated price, never sale any and then the value would be inflated because it is based on auction prices not actual sold items.

Hello Comics Price Guide world,
Does anyone know what the hell is going on with pricing discrepancies? I have been a member since early 2000's and I have never had an issue with using this data base. But lately I have been going into data base to check prices and to input new books and the values are extremely off. example I have a book that is popping up in other data bases consistently @ $50.00 raw value yet here its only valued @$2.50. like wtf. Its been happening with a lot of books. I am sure this discrepancy is throwing off every ones total collection value as well. Please help talk me down from the ledge before I move to another Data base. Thanks
