sclingerman wrote:

OK..... So then the #21B is a 40 cent variant (according to the CBR site), and I request that the comment needs to be changed to read "40-cent variant. Low distribution.".

And we don't even really have solid evidence for this being true. I've searched for this, and the CBR is the only place I see it. So is there some CPG term for this, where we've HEARD a comic exists, but don't have visual proof? Something like "Supposedly exists."?

Yep! Lol, 40 cent phantom issue.
That i can ascertain & yourself, among others is that for starters there is no #21 35 cent variant (because it already is worth that amount). Secondly, a 40 cent issue variant has to be proven & no-one no-where has one to prove it. So therefore it is just a regular #21 & that's that

I'll ask the administrators to remove the offending #21 variant & see what happens. Wish me luck!!!

Found it, Same as Sclingerman Has .35c on cover.
There is a reference to the fabled .40c Issue #21 at Comic Book Realm but no pic for it.
https://comicbookrealm.com/series/897/0/marvel-comics-godzilla-vol-1

Ah! Remember now ...The problem i had was with Issue #22. It has the diamond price box with no UPC (blank)
Looks to be an early direct edition or most likely a Whitman variant of that issue.
edited by Gilgandra on 5/17/2017
edited by Gilgandra on 5/17/2017
edited by Gilgandra on 5/17/2017

This is my copy which would have been purchased off of a spinner rack when it came out.
There may be a reprint version distributed by Whitman. It would have come in a sealed plastic bag branded with the Whitman logo and sold through department stores with 2 other comics in the bag.

Defiant1

The 1977-1979 Godzilla series by Marvel lists a #21 and a #21A.
The #21A says "35-cent variant. Low distribution".
However, the picture of issue #21 also has a 35 cent cover price, just like the one of #21A. The pictures are the same.
I can't find a #21 ANYWHERE that is NOT a 35 cent cover price.
So either the variant is a really "square" or "diamond" price box, or the scan is wrong, or this just doesn't exist.
If it doesn't really exist, then the #21A entry should be removed.
