sorry if this is a repost, but I was wondering what everyone uses to bag & board your comics,I use Ultra-pro brand stuff so for my golden age comics I use golden age bags & boards, silver age comics I use silver age bags & boards, for my bronze age and modern age comics I use regular size bags & boards, for some reason I don't like the current size bags & boards my opinion is the comics fits too tight in those. My question is should I use current bags & boards for all modern issues and my bronze age books? or are the regular bags & boards ok? I know the regular size stuff gives the books a little more room to move but again the current size stuff to me is a bit snug. what do you guys use and what would you recommend?

I use Silver Age bags for Bronze Age books that have $.25 cover prices or less, and for any comic where is seems like the fit will be too tight. I would have thought that Current and Regular were the same size, though, but I see now that regulars are a 1/4" larger than currents, and an 1/8" smaller that silvers.

In short, to lose and to tight are bad, but a snug fit is just right. It should be easy to remember, it's same as... well you know, Blush, er uh..., the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Yeah, that's the ticket. Tongue

I use all silver size for mine, that way they stack or sit in the box nice and unison.  I only use regular plastic on my newer stuff that really holds not big value.  Ultra pro is a nice brand, but I buy bulk these days to save money from TC Bulk.

On 80's and older I have most of my books in Mylites from E. Gerber.  Cost a lot more, but I will never have to re-bag them, so in the end it save a lot of money and time.  Plus Mylar looks so damn good. w00t

that's why I use regular on most of my books, I like the way they fit in the comic boxes, but if I need to switch them all out then I will

I'm beginning to switch my comics to mylars and I use both Silver Gold and Standards. I put my moderns and bronze age stuff in standards and anything older in Silver Gold. Sometimes you get those giant issues that won't fit in the SG ones though. Oh and I like to use Fullbacks with the mylars.

agreed, the Giant Size Ms. Marvel, X-men #3 and #4 I have just seems too tight to me to put in a current bag w/board

E. Gerber brand halfbacks/fullbacks (depending on age, value and condition) and UltraPro sleeves, all fit to the correct era.

With some books it doesn't work. Spider-Man Versus Wolverine, for example, is a modern book that doesn't fit in a modern board/bag combo. I use the next size up for oversized issues right up to (and including) mag bags. I use Gerber because I find other boards to be inferior (color transfer due to cheap coating and so on), and I don't use thick Mylar any more.

I use ComiCare bags (3mil) and boards for currents. Not sure what brand my Silvers are at the moment.

I put everything into Silver bag & boards. They all fit and this way I won't go crazy with different sizes.
